Job Summary
The Senior Director, Strategic Insights & Planning, is responsible for leading a high-impact team that analyzes company business performance, develops executive-level insights, and supports long-range planning and budget processes. This role leads a team of four analytics and planning professionals responsible for translating complex subscriber, financial, operational, and market performance data into clear narratives, recommendations, and decision-ready materials for executive meetings.

The Senior Director serves as a key partner to executive leadership, Finance, Strategy, Growth, Marketing, Product, Operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders. The role is accountable for ensuring that performance trends, risks, opportunities, and planning assumptions are understood, aligned, and incorporated into business reviews, long-range plans, budget discussions, and strategic decision-making. Success in this role requires strong analytical judgment, executive storytelling, cross-functional influence, and the ability to lead through ambiguity while developing a high-performing team.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of four responsible for business performance analysis, executive reporting, subscriber modeling, long-range planning support, and budget inputs.
  • Own the performance analytics agenda for executive meetings, including KPI interpretation, performance drivers, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
  • Translate complex performance, subscriber, and financial data into concise executive narratives that explain what is happening, why it is happening, and what decisions or actions may be required.
  • Develop and govern subscriber models that support long-range planning, annual budget development, scenario planning, and business performance tracking.
  • Identify emerging business trends, risks, opportunities, and inflection points early enough to influence executive decisions, resource allocation, and strategic tradeoffs.
  • Partner with Finance, Strategy, Growth, Marketing, Product, Operations, Business Intelligence, and other stakeholders to align assumptions, reconcile performance signals, and support consistent executive messaging.
  • Lead cross-functional planning discussions to evaluate business drivers, planning assumptions, market dynamics, headwinds, tailwinds, and potential mitigation options.
  • Build repeatable analytical frameworks, reporting standards, quality controls, and planning processes that improve accuracy, consistency, credibility, and speed of decision support.
  • Prepare and refine materials for senior leadership forums, including weekly growth discussions, monthly or quarterly business reviews, long-range planning meetings, and budget reviews.
  • Manage, coach, and develop analytics and planning professionals by setting priorities, reviewing outputs, elevating analytical standards, and building team capability.
  • Promote a culture of analytical rigor, collaboration, accountability, intellectual curiosity, continuous improvement, and executive-ready communication.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Generally requires 10+ years of relevant experience in performance analytics, strategy, business intelligence, finance, planning, consulting, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; MBA or advanced degree in a quantitative, business, finance, economics, or related discipline preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams that support executive-level decision-making, planning, forecasting, performance management, or business strategy.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous problems and synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to develop executive-level narratives and presentations that connect business strategy, performance outcomes, risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
  • Experience with subscriber, customer, financial, operational, or market performance modeling, including scenario planning, long-range planning, and budget support.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of performance drivers, planning processes, and the broader industry context in which the business operates.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders through credibility, collaboration, sound judgment, and data-driven recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts for knowledgeable executive audiences.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to manage, coach, motivate, and develop high-performing analytics or planning teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, compressed timelines, incomplete information, and high executive visibility.
  • Familiarity with enterprise reporting tools, dashboards, data platforms, financial planning tools, SQL, Essbase, or related analytics tools preferred.
