Full Job Description
Unite America seeks a full-time Senior Director of Strategic Communications & Investor Experience to join the Investor Relations functional area, reporting to the Head of Investor Relations. The role serves as the organizational owner of investor messaging, strategy, and editorial standards and oversees the Investor Experience team, which is responsible for producing investor communications and investor events.

This role serves as the Investor Relations team's center of excellence for strategic communications and investor messaging. The Senior Director will partner closely with organizational leadership, frontline fundraisers, and the Program and Finance teams to translate complex ideas, research findings, and results into compelling donor materials. They will define and deliver the Unite America story: the messages that help prospective and current investors understand who we are, the strategy and impact we've had to date, and new investment opportunities before us.

The ideal candidate is an excellent strategist, project manager, and people manager who can set direction, uphold a high bar for quality, and lead their team to support the fundraising function at Unite America. They will bring experience in strategic communications, narrative development, nonprofit or for-profit corporate communications, marketing, or related fields. They will be energized by building scalable systems that improve the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of Unite America's investor communications. Further, they will demonstrate curiosity about emerging AI tools and some experience in applying them to improve content development and workflow efficiency, while maintaining strong editorial judgment.

This position may be based at Unite America's headquarters in Denver, CO, or remotely within the U.S. Unite America offers relocation support for new hires interested in moving to Denver. Remote employees should expect to travel at least four times per year for investor events, organizational retreats, and meetings.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Communications & Narrative Development
  • Define, craft, and refine Unite America's cross-partisan narrative and value proposition for investors.
  • Establish and maintain high editorial standards, ensuring consistency with the narrative, as well as the clarity, accuracy, and polish of investor-facing materials.
  • Work with the Investor Experience team to keep a library of foundational materials, including UA's case statement, pitch deck, 2-page summary, an annual investor report, and talking points to guide frontline fundraisers.
  • Partner with the Executive Office to ensure investor-facing events and collateral align with organizational brand standards.

Investor Events & Community Engagement
  • Lead event strategy and oversee execution of in-person and virtual investor events.
  • Develop strategy and objectives for major investor events (such as the biennial Invest in Democracy Summit and biennial Strategic Partner Convening) in cooperation with the Head of Investor Relations and Senior Director of Fundraising, ensuring that events are aligned with overall investor relations strategy.
  • Develop talking points and presentations and provide coaching for executive leaders and other speakers for appearances at UA and key external conferences and events.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Operations
  • Serve as a member of the four-person Investor Relations senior leadership team.
  • Lead, coach, and manage the Investor Experience team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous professional growth.
  • Establish team priorities, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work.
  • Build scalable workflows and editorial processes that improve speed, quality, and consistency across investor-facing deliverables.
  • Provide special projects support for the Investor Relations team and organizational leadership as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 8+ years of experience in nonprofit or for-profit communications, investor relations, fundraising communications, philanthropic marketing, public affairs, events, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and editorial judgment.
  • Experience creating collateral and/or experiences for sophisticated investor/donor audiences.
  • Experience supporting senior executives in external communications.
  • Experience planning, leading, or scripting donor, investor, or executive-level events.
  • Ability to work effectively with executives, fundraisers, program experts, finance professionals, and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed, sophisticated listening skills and a collaborative, flexible, and solutions-oriented working style.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or leading staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Experience using CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, and AI-enabled technologies to improve communication effectiveness and operational efficiency.
