ABOUT THIS POSITION

Responsible for overseeing Development Engineering functions but is not a match to the Top Development Engineering - Corporate role or any of the Information Technology function Head roles. May be responsible for overseeing the technology development engineering function in a sub-part of the overall organization (other than a Group, Region, Division, Country), a part of the organization’s product development/engineering functions, such as hardware, software, systems, telecommunications, or product design and engineering, or is one of several executives responsible for oversight of the function at the Corporate level. Responsibilities include overseeing the creation, development, and design of the organization’s products, engineering services, and may include the research function. If incumbent is responsible for development engineering for a business unit, match to Top Development Engineering - Business Unit. Select Corporate, Group or Division, as appropriate for each match for Executive Scope of Responsibility.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

* Define and execute the overall engineering strategy and roadmap, aligning with Waystar's business objectives and product vision.
* Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team of engineering leaders and individual contributors, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
* Oversee the design, development, and deployment of Waystar's core platform and product offerings, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
* Drive technical architecture decisions, promoting best practices in software development, quality assurance, and DevOps.
* Collaborate closely with product management, sales, and other executive teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver exceptional value to customers.
* Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure efficient execution and delivery.
* Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact and incorporating relevant advancements into Waystar's technical strategy.
* Represent Waystar's engineering vision externally to customers, partners, and the broader tech community.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
* 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale engineering organizations.
* Proven track record of building and scaling successful, high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
* Deep expertise in modern software architecture, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), microservices, and agile development methodologies.
* Strong understanding of data security, privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA), and compliance requirements in the healthcare industry.
* Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities, with experience engaging effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience with mergers and acquisitions integration from an engineering perspective is a plus.
