Full Job Description
Position Summary

This position is responsible to provide strategic and hands-on leadership and support to strengthen continuous improvement capability and accelerate business performance - with emphasis on priorities aligned to a specific Division. They are also responsible for the Quality Management System including, but not limited to the development, setting and enforcement of procedures, policies and standards affecting the Quality of products across a specific Division. Responsible to guide and support the quality teams with day to day issues and will have responsibility and accountability for the measured quality metrics and cost savings goals associated with sites they oversee.

  • Provide thought leadership, coaching, and mentoring for the application of CI as a system for solving problems, managing processes, and developing people.
  • Lead the ongoing development of CI fundamentals and problem solving capability to strengthen the foundation for effective operations and sustainable performance improvement of capabilities across the Division.
  • Lead and support identification and application of best practices, operating standards, and metrics.
  • Lead identification and application of problem solving and improvement initiatives along the cross-functional value streams and business processes, aligned to strategic business priorities.
  • Lead and support learning and development processes, activities, and ongoing coaching for CI and systems thinking capability development.
  • Support strategy development and deployment.
  • Train and mentor key people across the organization on continuous improvement principles.
  • Deploy Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) as the lean management system across the company.
  • Actively build and maintain effective working relationships with operations and business leaders at all levels.
  • Facilitate the identification, prioritization, preparation, execution, and follow up of CI initiatives across the Business Unit sites.
  • Support the development and maintenance of each site's CI and QA Plan.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Integrated Management System (ISO, GFSI, GMP) is being followed.
  • Work in conjunction with Operations to ensure that all manufacturing and Quality Assurance procedures are being performed through documented process monitoring and process controls methods.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all quality personnel are trained to perform their respective job functions.
  • Representing ProAmpac to new and existing customers.
  • Responsible for oversight associated with external audits.
  • Responsible for oversight in managing customer complaint and reject process to ensure accurate root cause analysis, timely response, and determination and implementation of corrective actions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • 10 +years of business experience with significant hands-on experience as a lean practitioner and with quality management systems is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or above from a four-year university in a related discipline.
  • Certificates in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma are required
  • Experience managing manufacturing operations is a strong plus
  • Multiple site experience required including direct reports
  • Demonstrated excellent people leadership and team building skills - for direct reports and others.
  • Demonstrated success in bringing about changes in an organization, consensus building, and influencing all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent English language fluency is a must, additional language capabilities are a strong plus.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, and Outlook email and calendar capabilities.
  • Prior audit experience and knowledge of ISO 9001, GMP, GFSI required.
  • Fully integrated management system oversight which includes food safety, regulatory and quality management systems.

Work Environment

Work primarily in a climate controlled indoor environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes and vision protection required.

This role operates in a professional office environment that requires some exposure to a manufacturing environment. Employee is rarely exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing area during extremely hot summer months.

Expected typical travel by car, plane with some overnight stays estimated at between 25-50% in a typical month.
