Job Description

Sr. Digital Product Manager, Catalysts

What you will do

The Senior Digital Product Manager, Catalysts will embed with individual product teams to help accelerate Amgen's adoption of the Digital Product Operating Model (DPOM), strengthen the product management capability, and help teams shift from output to outcome mindsets. Reporting to the Director, Product Management Catalysts, this individual contributor role will serve as a hands-on player-coach, partnering directly with digital product managers, business leads, technology leads, business analysts, design, data, and engineering team members to improve how products are defined, prioritized, measured and delivered.

This role will primarily embed at the individual product level, though may support multiple product teams when needed. The Senior Digital Product Manager, Catalysts will apply product judgment within each engagement, independently diagnosing product challenges, shaping recommendations and directly leading product work where needed, while developing the assigned DPM's capability to sustain that ownership over time and helping the broader cross-functional team adopt DPOM practices.

The Senior Digital Product Manager, Catalysts will help DPMs and cross-functional teams clarify business and user problems, define measurable outcomes, strengthen product strategy, improve roadmaps, establish OKRs and KPIs, support discovery, improve prioritization, and connect delivery work to measurable value. This role will also capture learnings from embedded engagements and contribute insights back to the Product Management Hub to improve DPOM playbooks, tools, standards and enterprise adoption approaches.

Responsibilities

Embedded Product Leadership and Coaching
  • Embed with individual product teams to help improve product management practices and accelerate DPOM adoption.
  • Serve as a hands-on player-coach to Digital Product Managers and cross-functional team members.
  • Coach assigned DPMs on core product management skills, including problem definition, discovery, product strategy, outcome-based roadmaps, OKRs, KPIs, prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and value measurement.
  • When no DPM is assigned, temporarily perform product management responsibilities directly, including shaping product direction, aligning stakeholders, defining outcomes, and supporting roadmap and prioritization decisions.
  • Help teams move from stakeholder-request and feature-based delivery toward empowered, outcome-driven product management.

DPOM Adoption and Team Enablement
  • Help cross-functional teams understand and apply DPOM practices in the flow of real product work.
  • Partner with business leads, technology leads, product owners, business analysts, design, data and engineering team members, and other stakeholders to strengthen product ways of working.
  • Help teams clarify roles, decision rights, operating rhythms, success measures, and expectations within the Digital Product Operating Model.
  • Identify product management capability gaps, adoption barriers, and recurring anti-patterns within embedded teams.
  • Support teams in building durable product habits that continue after the Catalyst engagement ends.

Product Strategy, Outcomes, and Prioritization
  • Help teams understand business context, constraints and material risks while defining the business and user problems they are solving and connecting product work to measurable outcomes.
  • Shape and strengthen development of product vision, strategy, roadmaps, OKRs, KPIs, and value realization plans.
  • Apply independent product judgment to help teams evaluate and make trade-off recommendations based on user needs, business value, feasibility, risk, and enterprise priorities.
  • Support discovery, validation, experience evaluation, and learning practices that help teams make better product decisions.
  • Help DPMs integrate technical feasibility, data and measurement requirements, dependencies, and appropriate AI opportunities and risks into product decisions.
  • Help teams evaluate investment, capacity and prioritization trade-offs based on user needs, expected business value, evidence, feasibility, risk and enterprise priorities.
  • Help teams improve roadmap quality by shifting from output lists to outcome-oriented plans.

Catalyst Model Execution and Continuous Improvement
  • Execute the Catalyst engagement model, including product/team assessment, engagement planning, embedded coaching, adoption measurement, transition planning, and learning capture.
  • Contribute to refinement of the Catalyst model based on practical learnings from embedded engagements.
  • Define and track success measures for each engagement, including DPM capability growth, cross-functional team adoption, product maturity, and DPOM adoption outcomes.
  • Surface insights, risks, and recommendations to the Director, Product Management Catalysts and Product Management Hub leadership.
  • Translate lessons from embedded work into reusable examples, practices, templates, and playbook improvements.

Stakeholder Partnership and Influence
  • Build trusted relationships with DPMs, business stakeholders, technology leaders, and cross-functional team members.
  • Influence without formal authority in complex product and enterprise environments.
  • Communicate clearly with team-level and senior stakeholders on product direction, adoption progress, risks, and decisions needed.
  • Operate with high autonomy, strong judgment, and a bias toward practical progress.
  • Escalate major blockers, trade-offs, or alignment issues to the Director, Product Management Catalysts when needed.
