Sr. Data Analyst

Hyundai's North America Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for a Senior Data Analyst for the Quality Analytics & Reporting Team.

The Team:

NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group (HMG)'s North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to further Hyundai's goal of becoming the leading automotive manufacturer in North America by delivering uncompromising quality and exceeding consumer expectations.

The Position:

The Sr. Data Analyst would bridge business questions with data analysis to deliver actionable insights that drive quality improvements on Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia NA vehicles, in addition to collaborating with cross-functional and global teams to monitor quality issues, analyze external quality indicators and customer data, and escalate emerging quality cases

What You Will Do:

  • Understand and follow the department's business model, strategic direction, purpose, and mission
  • Apply deep analytical skills to blend, process, and explore complex datasets to aid in knowledge discovery, BI-reporting, and predictive modeling activities
  • Utilize internal and external data to identify and break down automotive quality problems. Deliver clear problems with targets for the Investigation and New Model Teams to investigate.
  • Utilize text mining tools for generating topics and/or enriching existing datasets with generated features classification tasks
  • Partner with the Investigation and New Model Teams to scope and deliver data analysis projects
  • Design, build, automate, and maintain reporting systems, dashboards, and performance metrics that support key business decisions
  • Complete ad hoc data insights/requests as needed to support company goals
  • Communicate results and business impacts to stakeholders within the company and affiliates
  • Support the Strategy and Analysis Manager
  • Mentor junior analysts, facilitate on-the-job learning, and ensure best data practices are being followed
  • Travel up to 10% of the time, both domestically and internationally


What You Will Bring to the Role:

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, business analytics, economics, mathematics, statistics, an engineering-related discipline, or a related field of study
    • 7+ years of experience working with/performing data analysis and creating forecasting models
    • Strong SQL, Python, and R data analysis skills
    • Proficiency with various data preparation and analytics tools, text mining tools, and data visualization software
    • An ability to recognize the needs of the end-user(s) and create reproducible solutions that answer those needs quickly and efficiently
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word
    • A strong analytical mindset
    • Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
    • Good written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills
    • Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record


  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in data science, computer science, business analytics, economics, mathematics, statistics, an engineering-related discipline, or a related field of study
    • Automotive engineering experience
    • Knowledge of vehicle systems
    • Experience working with and analyzing automotive survey data
    • Familiarity with Alteryx and Tableau
    • Experience working with text analytics
