Full Job Description

Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Counsel with 10+ years of experience to serve as a pivotal legal architect for our global technology and brand experience strategies. This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel, requiring a strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between complex legal frameworks and technical innovation. You will be the primary Legal & Compliance (L&C) Business Partner for both the Global Technology and Brand Experience leadership teams, setting the global standard for how we protect our intellectual property and navigate the digital frontier.

Core Responsibilities

1. Brand Experience & Asset Protection

  • Strategic Advisory: Serve as the primary L&C point of contact for the Brand Experience team, providing proactive, strategic guidance on market-facing initiatives.

  • Advertising & Claims: Ensure all marketing claims are substantiated and defensible.

  • Consent Frameworks: Establish and confirm processes for using customer and team member names, logos, and success metrics in testimonials and recruitment marketing.

  • Brand Assets Management: Oversee global trademark clearance, copyrights, licensing, domain names, and enforcement actions.

  • Policy Leadership: Provide legal review and guidance for the creation of enterprise-wide policies for Brand Experience topics like social media and external communications.

  • Agency Management: Review MSAs and SOWs to ensure the brand retains ownership of all final creative deliverables.

  • Partnership Frameworks: Negotiate and draft contracts for co-branding and partnerships, defining clear data ownership and liability structures.

2. Global Technology & Data Governance

  • Strategic Roadmap: Together with Global Technology Leadership and the Data Governance Director, design and lead the enterprise-wide data protection and governance strategy.

  • AI Policy & Ethics: Legal advice for AI policies, data classification, and labeling standards to ensure information integrity.

  • AI Risk Management: Support business units in assessing risks in using AI in delivering services to customers (engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and SRV).

  • Resilience & Security: Direct the legal response for data investigations, cybersecurity incidents, and disaster recovery protocols.

  • IT Contracts Strategy: Oversee the Legal team’s support for negotiation of IT vendor agreements and develop playbooks for customer flowdowns regarding cybersecurity and AI use restrictions.

3. Privacy, Data & Digital Compliance

  • Privacy by Design: Global consent management (cookies, email) and cross-border data transfers.

  • Regulatory Expertise: Navigate GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, PIPL, and other regional laws concerning PII for marketing and retargeting.

  • Digital Standards: Ensure all digital experiences meet Americans With Disabilities Act/Web Content Accessibility Guidelines standards to mitigate litigation risks.

  • Global Synthesis: Create global policies by collaborating closely with Regional General Counsels to integrate local expertise and insights.

4. Compliance Legal Advice Point of Contact

  • General Legal Advice for Compliance Program: Provide Legal Advice to the Compliance Team, working with Regional General Counsels and Compliance Program SMEs.
