Full Job Description
The Sr. Cost Accountant is a member of Trinity's Production Operations and Support Services Accounting team and will be responsible providing cost accounting support and analysis while playing a key role in developing, maintaining and analyzing material cost, purchase price variances and material usage variances. This individual will partner with individuals across the organization to ensure the integrity and availability of standard cost for materials and goods both produced and purchased.
What you'll do:
• Support the development and maintain cost accounting system, documentation, and records
• Determine the costs and efficiency of company purchasing activities
• Review costs for all external inventory, labor, and material purchases
• Coordinate cost accounting procedures and activity across the enterprise to ensure standardization and consistency
• Gather and analyze cost data to investigate discrepancies in inventory
• Generate reports relating to inventory, material costs, and labor and overhead rates
• Perform General Ledger account analysis and reconciliation related to inventory and cost accounts
• Timeliness of reports
• Technical accounting skills
• Support process improvement and automation
• Analysis for recommended solutions
• General Ledger reconciliations
What you'll need:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/ Accounting/ Finance required
• 5+ years' experience as an Accountant, with 3+ years of experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst or similar role
• Strong understanding of absorption costing and variable vs fixed expense analysis
Highly preferred skills:
• Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP
• Data analytics using Power BI or Agentic AI
