About the role:The Senior Controls/Electrical Systems Engineer will lead and support the electrical design and delivery of multiple projects across North America, including aftermarket and new-build projects, completing all electrical requirements, documents, and drawings specific to each project within established timelines. This role is integral to driving design standardization, automation, and continuous improvement across the engineering function. The Senior Controls/Electrical Systems Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional project teams to ensure complete understanding of project-specific requirements and deliverables, while actively leveraging Veralto Enterprise System (VES) tools and methodologies to eliminate waste, improve quality, and accelerate delivery. The role will also champion the adoption of AI-driven design tools, smart automation technologies, and digital engineering practices to enhance productivity and innovation.
In this role, a typical day will look like: Design Engineering & Execution - Design and deliver custom electrical solutions for water treatment systems, ensuring cost-efficiency, manufacturability, and standardization.
- Develop and review CAD drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, BOMs, and technical documentation, including component selection and calculations.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and project requirements (scope, budget, timeline), and support manufacturing and field installation in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Continuous Improvement (Lean / VES) - Drive process optimization and standardization using Lean principles (PDCA, root cause analysis, Kaizen), reducing rework, cycle times, and complexity.
- Contribute to design best practices, reusable assets, and VOC-driven improvements.
Automation & Digitalization - Leverage and implement AI, automation, and digital tools to improve design efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity (e.g., automated drawings, component selection, validation).
Technical Support & Collaboration - Provide technical input to Sales, commissioning, and field teams, support testing and validation, and maintain O&M documentation.
Leadership & Team Contribution - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to cross-functional project delivery, including design reviews, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
These are the must-have requirements for the role: - BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience
- Experience in control systems:
- machineries with fluid control systems;
- Demonstrated professional experience using UL, CSA standards
- AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical software experience
These are nice-to-have skills that will set candidates apart:
- Knowledge of various communication protocols, Ethernet/IP.
- Knowledge of Smart I/O manifolds. Preferably Numatics.
- Familiarity with PLC and HMI hardware specifications and selection. Preferably, Allen Bradley.
- Additional experience with design of steel frames to support electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of ERP system for BOM generation and ordering demand.
