Location & Team Gatherings

Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We've been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Control Systems Engineer to serve as our internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for natural gas power plant controls within the Data Center and Fuels organization. In this role, you will define and uphold the overarching control strategy and system architecture across large-scale generation assets, ensuring design intent is carried through execution and commissioning.

You will act as the technical authority across internal stakeholders, EPC firms, and OEMs, guiding the integration of reciprocating engines, gas turbines, and balance-of-plant systems into cohesive, high-performing control environments. This role sits at the intersection of design and execution, ensuring control systems are implemented to meet performance, reliability, and operational requirements in the field.

Success requires deep technical expertise in power generation, a strategic perspective on complex plant and microgrid control architectures, and the ability to lead across multiple large-scale capital projects simultaneously.

Team Overview

This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect's mission to accelerate the renewable energy transition by delivering high-performance, utility-scale energy infrastructure. The team partners cross-functionally across development, construction, and operations to design and execute complex energy projects at scale. Joining this team means working at the intersection of technical excellence and real-world impact, contributing to projects that demand precision, collaboration, and innovation.
