What you'll be doing

Capital Markets Operations plays an important role in supporting CIBC's ability to deliver expertise, insight, and execution across complex markets activity while managing risk and maintaining operational excellence. As a Senior Consultant, OTC Derivatives Documentation, you'll support over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives documentation across Interest Rates, Foreign Exchange, Equities, and Commodities. You'll analyze complex derivative structures, interpret International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) documentation, resolve challenging documentation issues, and work closely with partners across Capital Markets to ensure legal documentation accurately reflects the economic intent of each transaction. In this senior specialist role, you'll help influence documentation standards, mentor team members, support automation initiatives, and contribute to the evolution of the documentation operating model. You'll also collaborate with teams across Legal, Trading, Risk, Technology, and Operations to solve complex problems, improve processes, and support new product and documentation requirements.

  • Documentation Expertise - Develop, review, and validate OTC derivatives confirmations and related legal documentation to ensure they accurately reflect transaction economics, meet regulatory requirements, and support a strong client experience. 

  • Analytical Problem Solving - Interpret complex derivative structures, pricing models, payoff profiles, booking logic, and valuations to resolve documentation issues and reconcile legal and economic intent. 

  • Operational Excellence - Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, sound judgment, and attention to detail, and proactively identify and resolve discrepancies to strengthen operational risk controls. 

  • Innovation & Automation - Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes through automation, data analysis, and emerging technologies, and contribute to practical, scalable solutions that enhance efficiency and control. 

  • Partnership & Influence - Build trusted relationships across Trading, Legal, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Product Control, and Operations to support documentation decisions, improve standards, and advance strategic initiatives. 

  • Leadership Through Expertise - Mentor consultants, share knowledge, and contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation practices, team capability, and the future-state operating model.
