Full Job Description
Job Summary

The Commissioning Specialist will manage all aspects of commissioning projects, primarily new construction, facility due diligence, or tenant fit outs. The candidate will be expected to diagnose, analyze, and troubleshoot complex HVAC and electrical systems. The Commissioning Specialist will also be expected to interface with clients, participate in internal quality control and deliver projects on time and on budget. The Commissioning Specialist will be expected to participate in industry conferences, obtain relevant industry certifications and to be comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform construction observations, review contract documents, develop functional test plans and execute tests for a wide variety of mechanical, data center electrical knowledge and controls systems
  • Execute and interpret performance testing, Install and use testing equipment and analyze data collected
  • Contribute to Engineering teams in the delivery of mechanical/electrical systems commissioning, energy and consulting on complex projects for local and national clients.
  • Assist in building and improving advanced spreadsheet models and calculators
  • Assist in the development of the commissioning and retro-commissioning check sheets and test protocols
  • Complete written commissioning reports and clearly communicating results to clients and stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Perform research into new technologies and remain up to date on industry trends
  • Drive internal efficiency improvement through tools, technology, and process development


Required Qualifications
• • Ability to read, analyze and interpret mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings/specifications
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret sequences of operations
  • Minimum of five years of commissioning experience
  • Working knowledge of centralized condenser water plants, chiller plants, and boiler plants
  • Working knowledge of building management controls systems
  • Experience with large properties
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Advanced quantitative skills, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Detail oriented approach without losing sight of bigger picture practice goal
  • Desire to continue learning and increase technical & industry knowledge
  • Must be able to travel up 60%


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant technical/construction experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Knowledgeable about power / large scale generation systems
  • Prior electrical design experience
  • Have Cx certification or other credentials Cx related, such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP) or Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), LEED credentials or other qualified DOE.
  • Experience with commissioning on both new construction and existing buildings
  • Ability to translate complex technical information to non-technical client stakeholders
  • Familiarity with LEED and other certification programs, building codes and construction industry standards including Energy & Sustainability
