This Opportunity
Be involved in projects with our Texas-Louisiana Region Leadership Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

WSP is seeking a highly motivated Senior Roadway Engineer to serve as our Civil Technical Excellence Center (TEC) Lead for our growing transportation practice in New Orleans, LA.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on Louisiana DOTD projects, be a team player, and be enthusiastic in working with other engineers, project managers, and other technical staff assisting with planning, designing, and overseeing civil engineering projects, such as the design of roadways. This candidate will also help mentor staff as well as help to increase the Louisiana footprint with key clients. They will be responsible for a growing staff, personnel management, project management, and reporting to statewide and regional management.
Your Impact
  • Provide leadership, oversight, mentoring, and overall management of the Louisiana Civil Team.
  • Lead growth and development of the Louisiana Civil team, including interfacing with the Local Business Leaders, meeting with clients to develop and expand work, and strategically teaming with other consultants.
  • Performs a range of marketing and business development activities, including gathering client intelligence, leading pursuits and proposals, and interfacing through professional organizations.
  • Lead the production of project plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Be involved in all project aspects including design/study development and site/field visits during design and construction and work independently.
  • Efficiently produce quality deliverables while meeting budget and schedules on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to provide QA/QC on road design projects.
  • Ability to develop scope and fee proposals for new and supplemental work.
  • Interface with staff from a range of other disciplines (traffic, planning, structures, geotechnical, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects.
  • Assist in supporting agency coordination, permitting, and public participation activities.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • 15 plus years of roadway, highway, and drainage design experience
  • Minimum 5 years leading, managing, and mentoring teams of civil engineers and technicians.
  • Demonstrated experience with State and local governments, contractors, transportation agencies, and professional organizations.
  • Strong history and experience with Louisiana DOTD projects and programs
  • Professional Engineer License (Louisiana)
  • Experience using computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents including InRoads, OpenRoads, Bluebeam, Projectwise
  • Strong project management skills and experience
  • Strong technical skills relevant to civil roadway design
  • Working experience with marketing, business development, project pursuits, and proposal preparation
  • Experience mentoring and developing technical capabilities of mid-level and junior staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong (proven) management and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Preference given to local candidates.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.
