Full Job Description
Sr. Business Analyst, Sustainability Reporting, WW Sustainability Join us at the forefront of Amazon's sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements to support Amazon's long term worldwide sustainability strategy. At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon's scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company. We manage our social and environmental impacts globally, and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable. The Sustainability Reporting, Enablement and Governance (S-REG) team's mission is to build a lasting, scalable and trusted sustainability reporting infrastructure to satisfy regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations. We translate external requirements into internal needs and build tools and mechanisms that enable Amazon businesses to meet their Sustainability reporting obligations and effectively manage their Sustainability risks and opportunities. We are looking for a result-oriented, self-starter Business Analyst who is passionate about using data and automation to simplify complex sustainability reporting. You bring a builder mindset, a clear point of view on how AI tools can support and scale analytical work, and the ability to thrive in ambiguity - structuring problems, reaching defensible conclusions, and documenting clearly. You are the analytical owner for how we validate and make sense of disclosure data across sustainability domains - including but not limited to carbon, energy, water, waste, and workforce. You will build deep contextual knowledge of those measurement and accounting systems and define the completeness, accuracy, correlation, and causality analyses that turn raw, multi-source data into disclosure-ready information; prototype those analyses on real data; ensure data quality through scalable testing; draw correlations across domains (and against financials) in a way that is rigorous and makes business sense; and partner with our internal tech teams to scale the winning solutions. Your work directly determines whether Amazon can produce sustainability disclosures that are accurate, explainable, and defensible under external assurance. Key job responsibilities Extract, transform, and present data from upstream systems for internal pre-reviews, statutory reporting, and external disclosures across sustainability domains (carbon, energy, water, waste, workforce). Develop and implement scalable testing mechanisms for internal pre-review examinations and assurance readiness - completeness, accuracy, and reconciliation checks that flag defects early and prioritize them by materiality. Evaluate and improve data collection and ingestion processes, proposing solutions that enhance scalability and eliminate redundancies - including the right detection and prevention rules to embed in upstream systems so defects are caught (or avoided) at the source. Draw correlations across domains (and against financials) in a way that is rigorous and makes business sense, so reported trends are explainable and defensible under external assurance. Rapidly prototype new analytics and validation approaches (including with GenAI tooling) to prove value on real data, then hand well-specified requirements to internal tech partners to build and scale. Partner cross-functionally with data providers and measurement teams, report owners, and controllership - translating complex data-quality findings into plain language for non-technical stakeholders and senior leaders. Own the analytics that validate whether upstream controls are operating as intended (e.g., completeness of automated checks, detection of bypass or override), partnering with controllership teams to specify control requirements for new solutions before they move to production. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree - 5+ years of Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables) experience - Fluency with AI/GenAI tools and a clear point of view on using them to automate low-value analytical work - Experience in working with databases and SQL in a business environment PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs - Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets - Experience developing tools, reports, process maps, scorecards, and data visualizations that improve upon those currently employed for understanding the business and making decisions The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
