Senior Associate, Tax Process Strategy & Solutions

RSM's Tax Process Strategy & Solutions team is a fast-paced, high-energy, collaborative environment within the Tax Operations organization. It is a dynamic team with professionals of varying backgrounds from tax functional, tax technical, process improvement, and product management who partner with practice leaders to align engagement tools and processes with business needs, leveraging technology to streamline operations and enhance the user experience of RSM tax professionals and clients. The team consults and executes on a wide range of initiatives involving process and tool development and implementation including training development, engagement management, tool design, and implementation.

JOB SUMMARY

The Tax Process Strategy & Solutions Senior Associate's primary responsibility is to provide support and to collaborate with Process Leads, Business Product Owners, and Business Analyst Managers to understand how third-party products and custom-developed solutions fit into the overall "vision" for one or more business area(s). The goal of this role is to drive long-term scalability and sustainability of the business for a competitive advantage. To execute their area of responsibility, this role collaborates with staff, product teams, IT, other functional areas within the broader RSM firm, and field offices to ensure we achieve the vision cohesively and effectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Collaborates with Process Leads and Business Product Owners to understand how third-party products and custom-developed solutions fit into the overall "vision" for one or more business areas.
  • Assesses product-related performance against established targets.
  • Builds expertise on all aspects of assigned products and processes in assigned process area and develops in-depth understanding of user experience and needs.
  • Documents, validates, tests and assesses various processes, systems, and/or programs.
  • Executes project work plans by conducting research, data analysis, and implementation for assigned initiatives.
  • Assists Business Product Owners with maintaining system configurations of third-party applications.
  • Assists Business Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Tax practice subject matter experts in the development and maintenance of tax content within and between applications.
  • Develops workpapers, data mappings, and other tax specific deliverables and content within applications, leveraging knowledge of accounting, tax, and the tax engagement lifecycle.
  • Helps translate business process needs into functional business requirements with BAs, for enterprise-scale development with technical delivery teams.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains low-code automations.
  • Maintains integrations with other CATT solutions and assists in the testing and maintenance of existing linked infrastructure.
  • Creates and maintains process-related deliverables (e.g., process mapping and business requirements); assists with analysis of user needs for functional requirements for enhancements to existing tools/processes or implementation of new tools/processes.
  • Assists with development and maintenance of end-user documentation including user guides, knowledge documents, and training materials.
  • Works with Business Analyst(s) to develop processes based on available functionality of our technology and refines process-related deliverables accordingly.
  • Leads training and enablement efforts for the Support team on assigned products and processes; identifies and drives resolution to support issues in L3 support role, assisting Support team.
  • Represents the "voice of the business" and balances management needs with the end-users' requests.


EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree (preference given to Accounting, Business, or Technology major) or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or currently pursuing (preferred)
  • Lean Six Sigma and/or IIBA certification, or currently pursuing (preferred)


JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • 2-4 years of project coordination, business process experience, or product support (required).
  • Strong communication skills, ability to create effective documents and review them with key project stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization (required).
  • Experience supporting multiple initiatives concurrently (required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (e.g. SharePoint, Excel, Teams) and generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) (required).
  • Effective organizational and time management skills (required).
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a primarily remote work environment (required)
  • Previous experience working in a large organization, professional services firm, or CPA firm (preferred).
  • Tax compliance or advisory experience with knowledge of accounting or tax fundamentals (preferred)
  • Experience with tax compliance systems or financial systems and technology (preferred).
  • Exposure to business intelligence tools and working knowledge of analytics and data management (preferred).
  • Fluent (written and spoken) in French (preferred).

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $79,000 - $115,000
