Full Job Description
We are looking for a dynamic Senior Accountant to join our Third-Party Property Management (3PM) Accounting team. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger for portfolio clients, partnering with cross-functional departments to understand business activities and their impact on financial statements, and collaborating across the Accounting Department to ensure the timely delivery of financial reports and supporting schedules.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while mentoring accountants and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review high-volume journal entries and other work completed by property accountants for accuracy and completeness in accordance with established policies and procedures. Entries include accruals, intercompany transactions, operating expenses, management fees, and cash transactions.


  • Ensure month-end close deadlines are met, maintain and review bank reconciliations, and reconcile various general ledger accounts.


  • Analyze and interpret financial reports and evaluate the impact of single-family rental operations on financial results.


  • Review portfolio client financial statements and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and company policies.


  • Prepare and review scheduled and ad hoc financial reports and supporting schedules for portfolio clients and internal stakeholders.


  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at streamlining and improving company and department processes.


  • Mentor and encourage staff and their professional development.


  • Provide guidance and technical support to Property Accountants, ensuring adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.


  • Assist with internal and external audit requests, including SOX compliance and internal controls documentation.


  • Participate in Company-provided training and identify training opportunities to increase knowledge of single-family residential business.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required.


  • 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting and financial statement preparation is required. Property Accounting experience is preferred.


  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and possess high degree of accuracy and excellent time management skills.


  • Intermediate-level knowledge of Excel functionality is required.


  • Experience working with high volumes of data.


  • Yardi experience a plus.

Physical and Mental Demands

This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate and communicate. Salary Range
The salary range for this position is: $67,875.00 - $117,650.00, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.
