Job Summary
The SQL Engineer will develop, package, and deploy database code changes while collaborating directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements and recommend technical solutions. The role will support database deployments, scripting, testing, Agile development activities, and release process improvements while taking ownership of assigned work through completion.
Key Responsibilities
• Participate in sprint planning, standups, and story reviews.
• Support unit testing and story validation activities.
• Collaborate with business partners to understand requirements and deliver appropriate technical solutions.
• Script and deploy database updates and code changes.
• Develop deployment and post-deployment scripts.
• Package and deploy database code changes across environments.
• Take ownership of assigned Scrum stories through completion.
• Support and improve database deployment and release management processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve deployment efficiency and release processes.
Required Qualifications
• 2-5+ years of experience in SQL Engineering, Database Development, or Database Deployment.
• Strong SQL development and engineering experience.
• Experience scripting deployments and post-deployment scripts.
• Experience packaging and deploying database code changes.
• Ability to work directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements and recommend technical solutions.
• Experience working in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid development environments.
• Self-starter with the ability to take ownership of assigned work after onboarding.
Preferred Qualifications
• DevOps exposure or experience supporting deployment processes.
• Experience working in a fully Agile/Scrum environment.
• Healthcare, payer, or health insurance industry experience.
• Familiarity with sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and story-based workflows.
• Experience improving deployment and release management processes.
