Our client is looking for an independent thinker with a passion for underwriting, team development, and relationship-building - someone who can balance hands-on underwriting work with managing a team.
Compensation- $100,000 to $150,000 or more depending on relevant experience

Responsibilities- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of small to mid-sized commercial P&C risks, including new business, renewals, and endorsements, while leading and coaching a team of underwriters through day-to-day mentorship and guidance
- Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers within delegated underwriting authority, and act as an escalation point for complex files, broker concerns, and underwriting exceptions
- Set individual and team goals, monitor performance, and support career development, while overseeing workload distribution to ensure consistent turnaround times and service standards
- Build and maintain strong broker and stakeholder relationships, representing the company at industry events and broker meetings as needed
- Lead onboarding and training for new team members and foster a collaborative, engaged, and high-performing team culture
- Support and suggest enhancements to underwriting guidelines, processes, and workflows, and partner with leadership on hiring, performance management, and team planning as needed
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure a seamless broker and client experience, and contribute to the profitable growth of the underwriting portfolio
Qualifications- Ideally 7+ years' experience in commercial underwriting with at least3 years' experience in sports and fitness underwriting
- Prior experience in coaching, mentoring, leading a team or formal people management experience an asset
- Familiarity with domestic carriers and Lloyd's of London markets
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities
- CIP designation is an asset
