Job Description :

We’re looking for an Account Executive, Sports Ad Sales who knows how to sell, loves the thrill of the pitch and closing a deal, and genuinely lives and breathes sports. This is a great opportunity for a relationship driven, strategic seller who wants to build meaningful partnerships around some of the biggest sports stories, personalities and moments in New York.

You’ll bring a strong network across agencies and direct clients, a proven track record of opening doors and growing business, and the confidence to take a partnership from first conversation to close.

The ideal candidate has approximately 4 to 6 years of omni channel media sales experience in a major market, with experience working directly with clients and media agencies. Most importantly, you’re a smart, energetic seller who understands where sports, culture, media and brands intersect and knows how to turn that intersection into revenue.

This New York based role reports to the NYP Sports Ad Sales Director and will play a key role across the full sales cycle, from prospecting and pitching to closing, growing and retaining client partnerships.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify, prospect and develop new business opportunities across agencies and direct clients, turning conversations into meaningful, long term partnerships.
  • Leverage our sports content, audience, talent, platforms and premium opportunities to create compelling solutions for advertisers.
  • Manage opportunities from initial outreach and discovery through pitch, negotiation, close and ongoing partnership management.
  • Work closely with internal teams to develop creative, strategic and integrated solutions that help clients achieve their business goals.
  • Deliver compelling sales presentations and confidently communicate why the New York Post is the right partner for a brand.
  • Develop trusted relationships with clients and agency partners, providing responsive, thoughtful communication and an exceptional buyer experience.
  • Preserve and expand the existing customer base while consistently identifying opportunities for upsell, cross sell and deeper partnerships.
  • Consistently work toward and exceed established revenue goals with a proactive, results oriented approach.
  • Stay close to competitors, category trends, advertiser activity and the evolving sports and media landscape to uncover new opportunities.
  • Use research, prospecting tools and your own network to consistently build a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in media sales, digital advertising or a similar client facing sales environment, preferably in a major market.
  • A proven track record of prospecting, winning new business and growing client relationships.
  • Strong agency and/or direct client relationships within the digital media and advertising ecosystem.
  • Experience selling omni channel or integrated media solutions across multiple platforms.
  • A genuine passion for sports and an understanding of the sports media landscape. You don’t have to be able to name every backup quarterback in the league, but you should be excited by sports, know what fans care about and understand why brands want to be part of the conversation.
  • A competitive, entrepreneurial sales mentality. You enjoy the chase, aren’t afraid to pick up the phone and get energized by opening new doors.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to confidently pitch ideas and build relationships at all levels.
  • Familiarity with market research and prospecting tools such as MediaRadar, WINMO and similar platforms.
  • Highly organized, self motivated and accountable, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities at once.
  • A fast learner who can adapt to a constantly evolving media, sports and advertising landscape.
  • Results driven, enthusiastic and collaborative, with the confidence and personality to represent the New York Post in the marketplace.

The Bottom Line

If you love sports, love selling and love the idea of building partnerships around some of the biggest moments in sports, we want to hear from you.

Note: This role will adhere to a hybrid work model (4 days per week in our NYC office), subject to change as business needs evolve.

Compensation: Base salary of $80,000–$100,000, plus a sales bonus/commission plan. On-target earnings (OTE) of $140,000–$175,000 are based on achieving 100% of sales goals.

Note: Our sales compensation plan rewards strong performance, with incentive multipliers for exceeding sales targets and additional earning potential for top performers.

Pay-for-performance is a key element in our strategy to attract, engage, and motivate talented people to do their best work. Similarly to salary, set annual incentive bonus targets are based on a variety of factors including competitive market practice, experience, tenure, and essential skills.

Base Pay Range: $140,000 - $175,000 OTE

We’re committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent. This pay range reflects our good faith estimate for the role and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors.

For bonus-eligible roles, targets are determined based on multiple considerations, including market benchmarks and individual contributions.
