Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year

Job Title: Resource Specialist / Special Education Teacher

Location: South San Jose and surrounding East Bay Areas
Schedule: Full-Time

About the Role:
Ascend is seeking dedicated Resource Specialists / Special Education Teachers to support students with diverse learning needs across school settings, including alternative and non-traditional programs. This role focuses on delivering individualized instruction, supporting IEP goals, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive student success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized academic instruction to students with mild to moderate disabilities, aligned with IEP goals and California State Standards
  • Design and implement individualized and small-group instruction using evidence-based strategies
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress
  • Develop, implement, and manage IEPs in compliance with IDEA and local guidelines, including progress reporting
  • Collaborate with general education staff, service providers, and families to support student achievement and inclusion
  • Utilize technology and adaptive tools to enhance access to curriculum
  • Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies that foster a safe, inclusive learning environment
  • Support transition planning, including post-secondary goals and vocational readiness (as applicable)
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with state and district requirements
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-based initiatives

Qualifications:
  • Valid California - Educational Specialist Instruction Credential - Mild/Moderate Disabilities or Moderate to Severe or Early Childhood Special Education Credential
  • Added Authorization - Autism
  • EL Authorization.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferred
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
