Spectrum Management Engineer

Contingent upon prime contractor approval

Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has need for a Spectrum Management Engineer in Huntsville, AL working Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Spectrum Management Office (SMO) within the Office of the Chief Engineer.
  • This role focuses on advancing mission-critical initiatives through comprehensive spectrum lifecycle management including system certification, frequency authorization, interference resolution, and global deployment.

Job Description:
  • Ensure consistent, thorough, and integrated management, execution, and products of Flight, Technical, Programmatic and Cyber risks through the MDA Risk Working Group (MRWG).
  • Execute Technical Risk assessments to support MDA Operational Capacity List (OCL) Decisions.
  • Execute expert review of evidence related to technical, and Cyber risks presented in System and Element requirements and design reviews.
  • Aid in elements for risk development.
  • Participate in Mission Execution and disposition of Execution Risks and Event Observations in Daily MRWGs.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in STEM and at least 7+ years of experience.
  • Must have an understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) theory and electromagnetic principles.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and strict attention to detail.
  • Must have strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and Teams.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a military spectrum management school, preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience within federal/DoW spectrum management, preferred.
  • Ability to obtain / Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance, preferred.
  • Experience with Spectrum XXI (SXXI), preferred.
  • Knowledge of the NTIA Manual (Redbook), preferred.
  • Experience with the GEMSIS suite (Stepstone, Host Nation Spectrum Worldwide Database Online [HNSWD-O], Joint Spectrum Data Repository [JSDR], Integrated Spectrum Desktop), preferred.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic propagation modeling, wave behavior, and signal attenuation, preferred.
  • Experience with MATLAB or other programming languages, preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Joint Spectrum Interference Resolution Online (JSIR-O) portal, preferred.
  • Experience with NTIA EL-CID, preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard engineering practices, preferred.
  • Experience with automation tools or programming/scripting languages to aid in data analysis, preferred.

Security Requirements:
  • Must have an Active Secret clearance and the ability to maintain it.

Travel Requirements:
  • Minimal Travel; 10% or less
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time
