Job Summary
The Specialized Consultant - III will provide broad technical expertise across multiple information technology disciplines, including UNIX and Windows operating systems, server hardware, firewalls, network routing and switches, load balancers, middleware, file transfer and messaging, databases, cloud technologies, and automation. The role will focus on operational reliability, automation and toil reduction, incident management, security best practices, and SRE/DevOps/Systems Engineering practices. The consultant will collaborate with clients, technical teams, senior leadership, and executives while supporting project design, build, testing, production operations, and on-call activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Apply comprehensive knowledge of systems operations, policies, procedures, and technologies across multiple IT disciplines.
• Identify repetitive manual tasks and implement automation solutions to streamline workflows, reduce operational burden, and improve productivity.
• Apply best practices for incident response, including proactive monitoring, rapid triage, effective communication, and participation in on-call rotations.
• Resolve and track events, changes, problems, incidents, and service requests in accordance with established processes.
• Coordinate business requirements and scope and participate in cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues and conduct thorough post-mortem analyses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Apply Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and Systems Engineering principles to build and maintain reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems.
• Collaborate across teams to drive operational improvements and enhance system reliability.
• Apply security principles to operational processes and ensure compliance with established security standards.
• Proactively identify vulnerabilities and promote secure operational practices.
• Communicate project progress and status updates effectively to clients, technical resources, senior leadership, and executives throughout design, build, and testing phases.
• Make decisions within established standards and achieve assigned objectives using professional methods, training, business principles, and practical experience.
• Follow Agile methodologies, including the SAFe framework.
• Participate in required on-call rotations and perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 6-9+ years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is highly preferred.
• Broad understanding of multiple IT disciplines, including UNIX and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with server hardware, firewalls, network routing, switches, and load balancers.
• Knowledge of middleware, file transfer and messaging technologies, and databases.
• Understanding of cloud technologies and automation technologies.
• Demonstrated experience identifying and automating repetitive manual processes to reduce operational toil.
• Experience with incident management, production support, troubleshooting, and on-call practices.
• Experience with SRE, DevOps, or Systems Engineering principles.
• Strong understanding of security best practices and secure operational processes.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies and SAFe.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, creative problem-solving, attention-to-detail, oral, and written communication skills.
