What We Are Looking For

The 3D Systems team in Littleton, Colorado is seeking an experienced Specialist Program Manager with a strong technical background and proven project management expertise to lead strategic initiatives that support product onboarding, new product introduction (NPI), production process development, technology transfer, and continuous process improvement. This role requires a versatile leader who is equally comfortable managing complex, cross-functional programs as well as directly leading individual projects from initiation through successful completion.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to oversee a portfolio of interconnected initiatives while seamlessly transitioning into a hands-on project management role when business priorities require focused execution. Whether driving product realization efforts, equipment implementation, process validation, manufacturing transfers, operational improvement initiatives, or customer onboarding projects, this individual will ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Success in this role requires exceptional organizational and leadership skills, the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks. The Senior Program Manager will partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Commercial, and Customer teams to ensure successful execution while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.

What You Will Do

  • Lead project, program, and portfolio management activities throughout the lifecycle of assigned initiatives, including project planning, execution, cross-functional coordination, milestone management, risk mitigation, budget and schedule oversight, and regular communication with leadership, customers, and key stakeholders.
  • Design, implement, standardize, and continuously improve Project Management Office (PMO) processes, tools, governance, and software solutions to establish consistent project execution across multiple business units.
  • Manage complex cross-functional programs while also serving as the hands-on project manager for individual initiatives, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within scope, within budget, and in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead lower- to moderate-complexity projects, including new product introduction (NPI), product onboarding, technology transfer, manufacturing process validation, equipment implementation, supplier integration, operational improvements, and customer-driven technical initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including project charters, scope statements, work breakdown structures, integrated schedules, resource plans, communication plans, risk registers, decision logs, action trackers, and project closeout documentation.
  • Establish and facilitate effective project governance through recurring team meetings, milestone reviews, customer status updates, executive reporting, action item management, decision tracking, and escalation processes.
  • Serve as the primary customer-facing project leader by coordinating technical discussions, managing customer communications, and translating customer, quality, validation, certification, and manufacturing requirements into executable project plans.
  • Provide technical leadership for technology transfer, manufacturing implementation, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives involving additive manufacturing, subtractive manufacturing, post-processing, inspection, and related production processes.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing methods, operational workflows, project risks, and process constraints to identify opportunities that improve efficiency, quality, scalability, and overall business performance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and external suppliers to develop manufacturing solutions, implement new equipment, support installation and qualification activities, and ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute verification and validation (V&V) protocols, engineering studies, technical reports, and supporting documentation required for manufacturing readiness, product realization, and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate project status, technical findings, risks, key decisions, and deliverables to customers, executive leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders through clear and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Lead implementation activities supporting manufacturing readiness, including visual work instructions, engineering change orders (ECOs), process documentation, training programs, production handoffs, and operational transition plans.
  • Ensure compliance with 3D Systems' Quality Management System (QMS), Design Controls, Change Control processes, Product Realization procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate project and program reviews at key milestones, providing executive-level visibility into project health, risks, resource requirements, mitigation strategies, and overall progress.
  • Lead formal project closeout activities, including completion of all contractual and technical deliverables, documentation, lessons learned, stakeholder acceptance, production readiness, and successful transition to Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, or Sustaining Engineering teams.
  • Support the preparation, compilation, and review of technical documentation required for domestic and international regulatory submissions, customer qualifications, and product certifications, as applicable.

Qualifications

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, or a related technical discipline required; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or other relevant project/program management certification preferred. Candidates with equivalent project or program management experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated success managing both complex cross-functional programs and individual technical projects, including planning, execution, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, documentation, reporting, and project closeout.
  • Proven ability to seamlessly transition between strategic program leadership and hands-on project management, personally driving lower- to moderate-complexity projects while overseeing broader organizational initiatives as business priorities evolve.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience supporting manufacturing operations within a regulated environment, preferably under FDA Quality System Regulations (21 CFR Part 820), ISO 13485, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems.
  • Experience working in additive manufacturing within a production environment is required. Familiarity with technologies such as Direct Metal Printing (DMP), Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), or other additive manufacturing platforms is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical foundation in manufacturing engineering principles, including process development, product realization, process optimization, design support, statistical analysis, testing and inspection methodologies, supplier collaboration, structured problem solving, engineering change management, and process validation.
  • Experience developing and maintaining project documentation, including integrated schedules, dashboards, action registers, risk logs, project metrics, stakeholder communications, and project closeout documentation.
  • Experience planning, executing, and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities, including protocol development, execution, reporting, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems, inspection methodologies, metrology, and manufacturing quality processes is preferred.
  • Experience supporting downstream manufacturing operations, production readiness, technology transfer, or manufacturing implementation activities is a plus.
  • Proficiency with project management and reporting tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Project, Power BI, or similar software platforms.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate across cross-functional teams and all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service while balancing technical requirements, business objectives, quality expectations, and project timelines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% as business needs require.
