Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize the internal master schedule in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering and Material Management.
  • Release work orders to production based on the master schedule, material availability, and capacity.
  • Monitor manufacturing's adherence to the master schedule using ERP systems and expedite as needed.
  • Oversee operational efficiency metrics, including inventory accuracy and on-time delivery, reporting any variances.
  • Manage manufacturing floor stock and suggest inventory optimization strategies.
  • Advise management on work in progress, material availability, and potential production issues, leading resolution efforts.
  • Coordinate scheduling of shared resources with process owners.

Job Description:

The Production Planner plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors products through the complete production cycle of mature production program (i.e., product line) units to meet requirements. Advises operations and program management of the status of work in progress & risks to meeting internal master schedule. Effective collaboration and coordination with manufacturing assemblers/technicians, material management, product line managers and quality are critical to the role.

Essential Functions:
  • Develops, manages and optimizes internal master schedule for assigned programs in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering and Material Management
  • Releases work orders to production floor based on internal master schedule, material availability and current capacity; manages complex scheduling scenarios
  • Monitors manufacturing conformance to master schedule using ERP systems and reports. Expedites needed make items based on master schedule
  • Directly oversees operational measures including but not limited to efficiency, floor inventory accuracy, release on time and on time delivery. Reports variances and action plans to address.
  • Manages and controls manufacturing floor stock for assigned programs; recommends inventory optimization strategies
  • Advises management of work in progress status, material availability, and potential production problems involving personnel, equipment, materials and services; leads resolution efforts
  • Coordinates scheduling of shared equipment and personnel with respective process owners
  • Works under general supervision
  • May be responsible for entire projects or processes within job area
  • May be responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.
  • May manage projects at this level with responsibility for the delegation of work and the review of others' work product
  • Ability to obtain US government clearance


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.


Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment either as a production planner, master scheduler, demand planner, and/or supply planner
  • Experience using an ERP system with MRP & MPS capabilities.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, highly proficient in Excel (e.g., Excel formulas, V-lookups, pivot tables), Power BI and has skill in preparing tables, graphs, and charts.
  • Experience Trackstar Front End, Cognos Reports, and MTS systems
  • APICS Certification
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification / Training
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management peers and subordinates
