The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Specialist, IT Planning & Business Partnership - Mineral Processing and Technical Research & Innovation Systems to join our Information Technology team in Mississauga or Toronto, Ontario.

This is a permanent position, on Monday to Friday schedule, working a hybrid between the Mississauga or Toronto, ON office and a home office. There will be frequent visits to the Canadian Operations.

As a Specialist, IT Planning & Business Partnership - Mineral Processing and Technical Research & Innovation Systems you will play a key role in enabling the partnership between Information Technology and Mineral & Metallurgical Processing and R&I business domains. You will work closely with Business Process Owner within the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) organization to translate business strategies, priorities, and challenges into integrated, multiyear digital technologies roadmap.

Leveraging your domain expertise and your strong interest in digital technologies and how they apply specifically in this field, you will help shape digital solutions that support this business area end to end, from idea, deployment, to value realization from investments in digital technologies.

This role is ideal for mining and metallurgical engineers who want to expand into digital enablement, systems, data, analytics and AI while staying connected with their engineering background, opening paths toward senior roles in IT, Data and AI. What you'll do in partnership with the IT Planning & Business Partnership team:

  • Build trusted, value-based relationships with CTO functions and leaders, grounded in engineering, mining and scientific domain expertise, acting as an IT business and process consulting partner, supporting process design, continuous improvement, and performance measurement;
  • Proactively propose fit for purpose Systems, Data, Analytics and AI solutions while avoiding software sprawl that usually leads to unnecessary complexity, cost and risk;
  • Capture and structure technology demands, support business case development, and apply prioritization criteria to create integrated short, medium, and long-term digital technology roadmaps aligned with CTO Functions strategy and priorities
  • Collaborate with IT delivery, architecture, and governance teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with Enterprise IT standards.
  • Work closely with other IT Planning & Business Partnership specialists to ensure cross-assets and cross-functions roadmaps alignment.
  • Follow-up with business stakeholders in realizing value from technology investments through disciplined planning, governance, and benefit tracking.


About You

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related equivalent discipline.

Experience
  • Experience designing, building, deploying and supporting systems, data management, analytics technologies in an Engineering and Scientific environment.
  • Professional experience within one or more of the following engineering domains to identify opportunities where systems, data, analytics, and AI solutions can improve engineering services processes, outcome and decision making:
  • Mineral Processing
  • Hydrometallurgical Process
  • Carbonyl Process
  • Pyrometallurgical Process
  • Mining Technical Research & Innovation (strategy, processes, and governance


Skills:
  • Strong understanding of engineering in heavy industries like mining & metals, oil & gas, chemicals etc.
  • Proven interest in technology, digital solutions, data, analytics, AI and how these technologies enable value creation
  • Experience contributing to multiyear technology roadmaps.
  • Exposure to budget control, portfolio prioritization, and value realization tracking.
  • Familiarity with LEAN principles and continuous improvement concepts.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence at leadership level.
  • English required; Portuguese is an asset.
