Job Description
BCS Allegient is looking for a Communications Specialist with strong writing, copyediting, and content development skills. The successful candidate will provide communications support to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in Washington, D.C
. Salary range: $85K-$100K depending on experience. This is a hybrid position; the candidate must be able to commute and work at the client site at least 2-3 days per week
. Job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Draft, review, and/or copyedit a wide range of documents to convey technical or scientific information in a clear and accessible manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Create content and resources for stakeholders, including fact sheets, success stories, public announcements, newsletter articles, briefings, blog posts, infographic contents, and presentations.
- Assist in providing website content, e.g., for updating, creating, and editing web pages to incorporate new technical information and documents, and ensuring the content stays up to date.
- Develop and execute monthly social media plans, short-term targeted social media campaigns, and quick-turn social media posts.
- Develop internal and external weekly/monthly newsletters to keep internal and external stakeholders informed about announcements, upcoming events, and organizational priorities.
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all communication documents.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in the communications field, preferably as related to the position.
- Energy industry knowledge and DOE experience is a plus.
- Must be able to commute/work at DOE site in Washington, D.C. at least 2-3 days per week.
- Excellent verbal and written communications, organizational, and time management skills;
- Self-motivation and strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in using MS Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as SharePoint and other MS collaboration tools.
