Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Special Procedures Technician - Interventional Radiology (Full-Time)

Our ideal candidate plays a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality, image-guided care. This individual assists the care team in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by operating advanced imaging equipment, positioning patients appropriately, and preparing instruments and sterile fields. The technologist supports a wide range of procedures including angiography, angioplasty, biopsies, and other interventional radiology techniques, ensuring precision, efficiency, and optimal patient outcomes. A strong commitment to patient safety, radiation protection, and adherence to clinical and regulatory standards is essential. Success in this role requires technical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced procedural environment.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Prepares procedure rooms, ensuring all equipment, supplies, and sterile instruments are available and functioning properly
  • Assists physicians and interventional radiologists during minimally invasive, image-guided procedures
  • Operates fluoroscopy and other advanced imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Positions patients accurately to optimize imaging results while ensuring comfort and safety
  • Maintains sterile technique and assists with the setup and breakdown of sterile fields
  • Monitors patients during procedures, including vital signs and overall condition, and reports changes promptly
  • Administers contrast media and medications as directed, in accordance with hospital policy and scope of practice
  • Ensures compliance with radiation safety standards, including proper shielding and dose minimization techniques
  • Documents procedures, patient information, and imaging results accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care
  • Prepares and transports patients to and from procedures, providing education and reassurance as needed
  • Maintains and troubleshoots imaging equipment, reporting any malfunctions or service needs
  • Participates in on-call rotations and responds to emergency procedures as required
  • Adheres to all regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention standards
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and maintains required certifications and continuing education
