Qualifications

  • ARRT certification in Radiology or RCIS registry required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Completion of competency checklist for applicable level needed.
  • 1 year experience in diagnostic and 1 year in Interventional Radiology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized radiography and fluoroscopic support during procedures under physician direction.
  • Explain procedures to patients and prepare them accordingly.
  • Obtain necessary medications and materials for practitioner use.
  • Circulate during procedures and ensure patient comfort.
  • Provide necessary supplies for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Remove catheters/sheaths, applying appropriate pressure afterwards.
  • Record and process hemodynamic reports and charges accurately and timely.
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions to leadership for repair.

Schedule Details/Additional Information:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7:00 pm-7:30 am. On call required.

Pay Range
$35.50 - $53.25

Major Responsibilities

  • Performs specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage of interventional and angiographic procedures under the direction of a physician.


  • Explains the procedure to the patient and preps the patient for the procedure.


  • Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.


  • Circulates during the procedure and maintains responsibility for patient comfort.


  • Provides supplies necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.


  • Removes catheters/sheaths and applies direct pressure or clamp as appropriate.


  • Provides necessary report information to the holding area or nursing unit as needed.


  • Records and processes hemodynamic reports, contrast media records and charges promptly and accurately.


  • Communicates equipment malfunctions to leadership or department engineer for repairs.


Minimum Job Requirements

Education

Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic Technology or RCIS graduate from a Cardiovascular Interventional Training Program.

Certification / License

ARRT certification in Radiology or RCIS registry required
BLS required.

Work Experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Must meet all required elements of competency checklist for level.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Requires standing and walking while wearing 10 to 15-pound lead radiation protection aprons. Exposure to radiation, secretions and blood. Confined working area. Normal vision, manual dexterity and good eye and hand coordination is necessary to operate equipment. Constant concentration required during procedures.

Preferred Job Requirements

Certification / License

ACLS preferred.

Experience

1 year in diagnostic and 1 year in Interventional Radiology preferred.
