About the Role

Apex is building spacecraft at scale, and our ability to move fast depends on a world-class design environment. We're looking for a CAD Systems Engineer who can own, elevate, and continually improve our Siemens NX ecosystem so our mechanical, avionics, and manufacturing teams can iterate quickly and reliably.

Responsibilities
  • Own Apex's Siemens NX environment, ensuring it remains stable, performant, and optimized for rapid hardware development
  • Define and maintain modeling standards, drafting conventions, customer defaults, and attribute requirements that drive high-quality CAD data
  • Expand automated checks (Check-Mate, NX Open tools, etc.) to enforce consistency and reduce downstream rework across design and manufacturing
  • Act as the go-to expert for engineers across mechanical, MEOP, avionics, and manufacturing to troubleshoot complex NX issues (assembly performance, WAVE links, translations, data handoff, etc.)
  • Develop and deliver onboarding, training, and best-practice playbooks to accelerate user adoption and proficiency
  • Partner closely with designers to understand real pain points and translate them into system improvements
  • Collaborate with our Teamcenter admin to strengthen and scale a fully managed NX environment
  • Ensure seamless integration between NX, Teamcenter, ERP, and MES to support accurate BOMs and manufacturing readiness
  • Continuously re-evaluate and redesign CAD processes to remove friction, automate repetitive tasks, and unlock new capabilities across the product lifecycle
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on Siemens NX experience (implementation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting)
  • Strong background supporting NX in Teamcenter-managed environments
  • Familiarity with aerospace-specific modules and large, complex assemblies
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and enable CAD users
  • Proficiency in scripting/automation (NX Open, Python, ITK, or similar)
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate user pain points into scalable, maintainable system solutions
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly iterative environment
