It's our job to show clients how to take major leaps forward in cost-out, strategic category management, and procurement operations.

You are:

A Sourcing and Procurement professional who helps clients develop strategies and operating models to advance procurement capabilities and drive bottom-line financial impact. You use your data skills to develop and implement strategies that improve the value and performance delivered by clients' supply base, while establishing strategic procurement category plans and processes to sustain long-term value. You've also got the communication skills to make sure that everyone understands your ideas and how to get them working as quickly as possible. Your experience means that people look to you for guidance and ideas. And you know how to make sure teams get their work done on time, every time.

The work:

There is never a typical day at Accenture, but that's why we love it here! This is an extraordinary chance to begin a rewarding career at Accenture within the Energy Center of Excellence.

The energy practice at Accenture is an exciting area of growth. The practice focuses on managing energy spend for clients across all industry verticals, from national retailers to heavy industrials. The energy team collaborates closely with clients to identify goals and develop strategies for reducing costs, hedging against market risks, setting budgets and tracking financial performance. Sustainability services include emissions measurement, target setting, decarbonization road mapping, sustainability project implementation, and emissions reporting.

Procurement Practice Specialists contribute to reducing our clients' energy spend by performing natural gas pricing proposals. You will play a critical role in the entire RFP process from initiating to execution. This includes, but not limited to, extensive supplier management and coordination, market analytics and negotiation.

Typical duties would involve:
  • Initiate and manage pricing requests sent to suppliers with defined deadlines and required deliverables
  • Create and foster supplier relationships, maintaining an active database of available suppliers for all regions of the U.S and Canada
  • Monitor energy market fundamentals, including supply/demand balances, weather and storage impacts, and infrastructure constraints
  • Solid understanding of energy infrastructure including capacity, transmission, and distribution and how each affects a client's procurement strategy
  • Distinguish between the various energy procurement pricing methods including spot, fixed, and index related products
  • Interpret market pricing, volatility, and forward curves across regional and national markets
  • Create high-quality procurement recommendations for clients including market intelligence, strategy and risk management
  • Manage contract documents, terms & conditions, and lock confirmations
  • Ensure deals are properly recorded and documented within internal systems
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with the Client Management and Market Intelligence teams to deliver best-in-class results to our energy clients

Here's what you need:
  • Minimum of 2.5 years of experience working in the Energy industry, preferably with natural gas
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (minimum 12 years) work experience. (If associate degree, must have a minimum of 6 years' work experience)
  • Experience supporting client management and/or procurement activities
  • Knowledge of regional power and natural gas markets (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, ISO-NE, NYMEX)

Bonus points if:
  • You have the proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • You excel in building and developing relationships, overseeing complex programs, and demonstrating leadership
  • Comfortable in a performance-driven environment and possess a strong capacity for innovation and process improvement
  • Prior experience in driving insights using visualization tools (i.e., Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx) and analytics tools (i.e., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including the ability to develop and interpret complex models and ad-hoc reports
  • Ability to effectively take on multiple projects, tasks, and initiatives simultaneously; deadline driven
  • Demonstrated abilities in problem solving and independent decision-making capabilities
