If you are a technicalprofessional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you!Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will workin conjunction with sound and vibration engineers and technicians to design, develop, and qualify compressors for sound in HVACRsystems. To maintain our role as a global leader of compression solutions we continually seek talented and ambitious engineers to work in our technical team.We are seeking a highly motivated, result oriented, problem-solving engineer to contribute to our growth and continued innovation.

As Sound and Vibration Engineer,YOU WILL:

  • Work in an agile and lean environment to proactively support NPD, R&D, Advanced Technology and Customers to meet Sound and Vibration (S&V) design goals
  • Provide technical solutions through data processing and analysis to residential and commercial air conditioning and refrigeration teams to proactively control noise and vibration during product development phase
  • Perform FEA to support NPD/R&D and Advance Technology programs using commercial tools (E.g., ANSYS, NX Simcenter 3D)
  • Provide work instructions, lab support to Sidney S&V lab technicians to perform daily sound and vibration tests
  • Manage and complete projects on time by working with the engineering teams and customers through weekly dashboard.
  • Collaborate with global S&V engineers for knowledge sharing and eliminate duplication of work
  • Prioritize and follow safety best practices while working in the lab environment
  • Work with application and sales engineers to address customer field issues related to S&V
  • Work with S&V leaders to execute operational excellence initiatives such as continuous improvement, kaizen activities, increased productivity and safety
  • Participate in industry stewardship activities, conferences, standard committees in S&V

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • Bachelors with 2 years of experience or masters in mechanical engineering
  • Background in one or multiple topics: simple harmonic motion, noise, sound, vibration and acoustics
  • Hands on instrumentation and testing experience to solve real world problems
  • Must have background in signal processing, test equipment and data management
  • Solving problems using numerical and analytical methods
  • Ability to understand CAD drawings and BOMs Knowledge of FEA such as Static, Modal, and Harmonic analysisWrite technical report to publish findings and recommendations
  • Must have troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills such as global collaboration, customer engagement, etc.

bPREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with S&V specialization or related work experience
  • Can use state-of-the-art S&V tools such as sound intensity scanning probe, shaker, impact hammer, accelerometer, etc
  • .Run modelling and simulation using 1-D or Finite element methods (FEM/BEM)
  • Basic knowledge of data analytics, AI/ML model development
  • Background in Noise, Vibration and Sound QualityAbility to define test methods based on AHRI/ISO standards
  • Adapt problem solving based on customer needs and business priorities
  • Experience in HVAC units, compressors, control units, and valves
