Full Job Description
What you will be doing:
  • Design and document technical solutions that meet business, operational, and security requirements for insurance platforms and applications.
  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into solution designs, integration patterns, and technical standards.
  • Review and approve architecture designs produced by team members.
  • Responsible for day-to-day development activities, managing sprint commitments, and mentoring developers while meeting or exceeding delivery and quality requirements.
  • Lead and guide development teams and provide hands-on support during solution implementation, including design reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Support Senior Solutions Architects with the implementation of architecture patterns and frameworks for company systems; regularly collaborate with peers across tracks on design.
  • Participate in release process and release nights and take ownership of release nights periodically.
  • Facilitate design and code reviews to ensure alignment with architectural standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend third-party tools, platforms, and technologies based on solution needs.
  • Support solution performance optimization and troubleshooting throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Ensure solutions comply with industry regulations, data security, and company standards.
  • Maintain documentation sufficient for internal and external audits.
  • Support modernization initiatives, technical debt reduction, and platform rationalization.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning and prioritization within the architecture domain.
  • Create and sustain a safe, inclusive, high-trust, and high-performance environment where team members feel respected, and motivated.
  • Provide leadership to employees and regularly conduct effective and timely structured Progress & Growth Structured Dialogue sessions.
  • Coach, train, and develop employees; set goals and lead to success.
  • Conduct employee interviews and make staffing recommendations, as needed.

What you already have:

Education, Experience, and Licensing:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in application, systems, or solutions architecture; at least 3 years designing solutions in regulated industries (P&C insurance preferred).
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with an insurance platform (Duck Creek Policy, GW Claims, Salesforce) and at least one additional Duck Creek module, Guidewire Claims, and/or Salesforce.
  • 3+ years of proven experience leading solution design across cross-functional teams and mentoring architects, engineers, or technical leads.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficiency in implementing insurance management applications using technologies and platforms such as Duck Creek Policy & Billing, and/or Guidewire Claims.
  • Strong understanding of solution design principles using APIs, cloud technologies (e.g., Azure or AWS), and integration patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of system integration, data modeling, and security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Ability to balance business needs, cost, and risk.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accountability.
  • Working knowledge of multi-tier and microservices architecture.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with team members across the organization.
  • Exposure to DevOps pipelines, CI/CD processes, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) a plus.
  • Proficient in MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
