Solutions Architect - Cloud

DCSA

Overview

The Solutions Architect - Cloud will serve as an individual contributor on the contract's architecture team supporting the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). This role focuses heavily on producing high-quality technical documentation, system designs, and architecture artifacts for a DoD-wide AWS enterprise cloud environment. The architect will regularly meet and collaborate with government stakeholders and internal engineering teams to translate mission needs into secure, scalable, and compliant cloud architectures. Strong AWS expertise, system engineering experience, and proficiency in DoDAF-aligned documentation are essential. Familiarity with AI/ML technologies is highly valuable as the agency explores emerging capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver technical documentation and architecture artifacts, including: System Descriptions, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), CONOPS, API specifications, System Description Documents (SDDs), OV-1s and other DoDAF products and Enterprise and system architecture packages.
  • Create detailed AWS architecture diagrams and supporting documentation for networking, IAM, automation, data flows, and system boundaries.
  • Apply DoDAF and Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) principles to system and enterprise-level designs.
  • Support the system engineering lifecycle, including analysis of alternatives (AoAs), proofs of concept (PoCs), and operational pilot activities.
  • Work directly with government customers to gather requirements, identify challenges, and provide expert cloud guidance as a trusted advisor.
  • Support Authorization to Operate (ATO) documentation and RMF-aligned architectural artifacts.
  • Identify issues in existing AWS environments and recommend improvements for performance, security, and cost optimization.
  • Assist in transitioning legacy applications and workloads into AWS cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to ensure architectural consistency and compliance.
  • Apply emerging knowledge of AI/ML technologies to support future architectural planning and modernization efforts.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, cloud engineers, cybersecurity teams, and program leadership.

Required Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience as an AWS Cloud Architect
  • 10+ years of experience in a related technical field (networking, development, cloud development, or security)
  • 5+ years of system engineering and system design experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive technical data packages, including ICDs, CONOPS, SDDs, APIs, OV-1s, and enterprise architecture artifacts
  • Experience managing the system engineering lifecycle, including AoAs, PoCs, and pilots
  • CompTIA Security+ (active)
  • Experience transitioning legacy systems to AWS
  • Experience identifying and resolving issues in AWS environments
  • Hands-on experience with DevSecOps tools, including Ansible, Jenkins, Jira, Git, GitHub, and automation frameworks
  • Experience as a managed service provider or AWS environment administrator (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (active) or higher. Acceptable alternatives: AWS SysOps Administrator - Associate, AWS Developer - Associate and AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional.
  • Experience supporting DoD cloud systems (IL2-IL6)
  • Familiarity with ATO processes, RMF documentation, and DoD cybersecurity requirements
  • FinOps experience (plus)
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies, cloud-based inference, or data-driven architectures
  • AWS professional-level or specialty certifications
  • Knowledge of DISA STIGs, DoD Cloud SRG, Zero Trust, and secure cloud design patterns
