Full Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to define the end-to-end architecture for a modern Microsoft Fabric / OneLake data platform. The role will be responsible for translating business and enterprise requirements into scalable data architecture, defining integration and modeling patterns, establishing technical standards, and providing architectural direction across engineering, governance, security, and BI teams.

Base Compensation Range: 100,000 - 150,000

The posted range is the hiring range for this role — a subset of the broader range available to employees over time — and reflects base salary across our national hiring scale. Final offers are based on several factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, internal pay equity, work location, market conditions for the role, and the specific scope and responsibilities of the position. The top of the range is reserved for candidates who notably exceed the requirements; the lower end applies to those with less experience or fewer preferred qualifications. For positions based in higher-cost zones (e.g., California, New York, New Jersey), actual compensation may exceed the posted range; your recruiter will share specifics during the process.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end solution architecture for the Microsoft Fabric / OneLake data platform, covering ingestion, storage, transformation, serving, semantic models, and analytics.
  • Define the target-state data architecture, architectural principles, design patterns, technology standards, and reference architectures aligned with enterprise strategy.
  • Design scalable Lakehouse and Warehouse architectures using Fabric and the Medallion Architecture.
  • Define enterprise data modeling strategies, including conceptual, logical, physical, dimensional, canonical, and conformed data models.
  • Establish architecture for Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, ensuring clear separation of ingestion, transformation, business logic, and consumption responsibilities.
  • Define the semantic architecture for Power BI, including certified datasets, business metrics, reusable measures, security models, and Direct Lake implementation patterns.
  • Design for scalability, performance, availability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization across the Fabric platform.
  • Define security and governance architecture, including Purview, RBAC, data classification, lineage, masking, PII/PHI protection, access patterns, and audit requirements.
  • Lead architecture and solution design workshops, technical deep dives, and design reviews with business stakeholders, engineering, security, infrastructure, governance, and BI teams.
  • Define non-functional requirements and architectural acceptance criteria covering performance, security, scalability, availability, maintainability, and operational support.
  • Provide technical direction to Data Engineering teams and ensure implementation is aligned with the approved architecture and enterprise standards.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture / Solution Architecture / Data Engineering, with 3+ years designing enterprise data platforms on Azure / Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse, Synapse Pipelines, Notebooks, Spark, and Delta Lake.
  • Proven experience designing enterprise data lake/lakehouse architectures and scalable Medallion implementations.
  • Strong understanding of data integration architecture, CDC, ETL/ELT, APIs, batch processing, and file-based ingestion patterns.
  • Strong expertise in data modeling and semantic architecture, including dimensional modeling, conformed dimensions, business entities, and Power BI Direct Lake.
  • Experience architecting data governance, security, and compliance using Microsoft Purview, RBAC, masking, lineage, classification, and PII/PHI controls.
  • Commercial insurance / brokerage domain experience preferred.
