Software Tester
The Position
A Software Tester applies their skills and works closely with their cross functional teams to ensure amazing experiences for our customers. They solve problems and assist the team with ensuring the delivery of quality solutions. This position is key to guaranteeing the quality and reliability of our cutting-edge cloud and mobile software platforms, which help users tackle significant global challenges.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
• Collaborate with product managers and developers to fully understand requirements.
• Deconstruct user stories into clear and concise test plans.
• Design and create comprehensive and reusable test cases.
• Execute manual and automated test suites for cloud and mobile applications.
• Identify, document, and meticulously track software defects.
• Test across various environments and configurations to ensure broad compatibility.
• Log clear, detailed, and reproducible bug reports in our tracking system (e.g., Jira).
• Work closely with the development team to help diagnose and resolve issues.
• Verify bug fixes and perform targeted regression testing.
• Help develop and maintain automated regression test suites.
• Execute regression tests to ensure new features don't break existing ones.
• Assist in conducting performance, load, and scalability testing on our cloud solutions.
• Actively participate in sprint retrospectives and team meetings.
• Suggest and help implement improvements to QA processes and methodologies.
• Contribute to the evaluation and adoption of new testing tools.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
• Relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in a software testing or quality assurance role, with some experience testing cloud-based (SaaS) applications
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and QA methodologies
• Experience with test case management and bug tracking tools (e.g. Jira)
• Familiarity with testing APIs and web services (e.g. using Postman or similar)
• Basic knowledge of a scripting language (e.g. Python, JavaScript) for test automation
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile team environment
• A genuine passion for technology and quality
Additional Information
This is a hybrid-based position, and you are required to be in the Toronto Seequent office two days a week.
Seequent is a global company, and flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate work across different time zones. Tier 3, after hours support may be required on occasion.
