Software Simulation Engineer Full-time
Huntsville, AL Position Summary The Software Simulation Engineer supports the development and integration of modern simulation environments, responsible for the architecture and integration of multiple information technology systems within a shared simulation environment. This role ensures reliable and cohesive operation of data flows, interfaces, and services by applying established technologies and advanced engineering principles to solve technical challenges effectively.
What You'll Do - Develop and maintain modeling and simulation software for training and mission-based scenarios.
- Build and integrate simulation models for sensors, aircraft, communications, and related system components.
- Implement distributed simulation behaviors and interfaces using standard protocols.
- Support scenario creation, mission control workflows, and system startup sequencing.
- Integrate communications simulation, image generation, and synthetic sensor products into training scenarios.
- Conduct software and system-level integration testing across simulation components and communication interfaces.
- Collaborate with systems engineering to ensure technical alignment and interface compliance.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities.
- Travel Requirements: Up to 10%
Requirements and Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in simulation software development and system integration.
- Strong programming skills.
- Knowledge of real-time and distributed simulation frameworks.
- Familiarity with distributed simulation protocols (DIS, HLA, or similar).
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development practices.
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar).
- Experience working in cloud-based DevSecOps environments using CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar).
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as OneSAF, AFSIM, MUSE, MAK ONE, or similar.
- Familiarity with UAS systems or aviation system architectures.
- Experience integrating radios, VoIP systems, and networked training interfaces.
- Experience with terrain, geospatial, or image generation tools.
