Software QA Engineer Transformation Engineering
Reports to: Software QA Leadership
Overview of the role
The Software QA Engineer will provide independent quality engineering for the Transformation Engineering Team. The role will validate modernized applications, domain-based services, data migrations and critical workflows as capabilities move gradually from legacy technology.
The engineer will align functionally with the Transformation Engineering Team while remaining part of Software QA to preserve independent quality judgment and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
• Participate in discovery and design to identify business, technical, migration and operational risks early.
• Create risk-based test strategies for modernized applications, domain services and workflow migrations.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, end-to-end and release testing.
• Validate parallel operation between legacy and modernized solutions during staged transitions.
• Test APIs, user interfaces, data movement, business rules, exceptions and recovery paths.
• Perform data reconciliation and confirm migrated information remains complete, accurate and traceable.
• Build automated API, UI and regression tests and integrate them into delivery pipelines.
• Validate performance, load behavior, monitoring and operational readiness.
• Test role-based access and audit logging for access, changes, downloads, exports and copies.
• Verify security and privacy controls for systems handling sensitive healthcare information.
• Support cutover planning, production validation and post-release monitoring.
• Document defects, support triage and verify root-cause corrections.
• Report quality status independently, including unresolved risks and recommended release decisions.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5 or more years of software quality assurance or quality engineering experience.
• Experience testing APIs, integrated workflows and data-intensive applications.
• Strong functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing skills.
• Experience validating data migrations and performing SQL-based reconciliation.
• Experience with API tools such as Postman and UI automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright or Cypress.
• Experience testing business-critical production systems and supporting release validation.
• Strong analytical, documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in healthcare, diagnostics, genomics or laboratory operations.
• Experience testing legacy modernization or distributed service architectures.
• Experience with performance testing, Git and continuous integration pipelines.
• Knowledge of protected health information, role-based access and audit requirements.
• Experience validating gradual migrations, parallel runs and controlled cutovers.
• Experience using AI-assisted testing and analysis tools responsibly.
