Job DescriptionSoftware QA EngineerWe have an opportunity for a Software QA Engineer to join our Universal Asset Insights team in Burnaby, BC, reporting to the Manager of Engineering. In this role, you will work on Infoblox Universal Asset Insights, which automates the discovery and analysis of both IP-based and non-IP-based assets across public clouds, on-premises networks, IoT/OT devices, and third-party applications. Integrated with Infoblox's critical network services, including DNS, DHCP, and IPAM, it enhances network visibility and IPAM accuracy.
You will work closely with Product Management and Engineering leadership to execute the product roadmap and engineering goals of building scalable, reliable, and maintainable software.
Be a Contributor - What You'll Do - Collaborate with the QA and Development teams to validate various features and products in the Infoblox Universal Asset Insights platform
- Automate test execution wherever possible using industry or home-built tools
- Create and validate integration mechanisms with network controllers, cloud service providers, virtualization platforms, and containerized or orchestrated environments
- Partner with various cross-functional Product teams
- Work in a fast-paced, continuous-integration-based engineering environment
- Anticipate future technology needs and business requirements to drive new testing approaches and tools
- Provide technical leadership to steer product architecture and software design, ensuring the delivery of a scalable, extensible, and reliable system
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management and Marketing on roadmap, documentation, and other collateral
- Work closely with global Engineering teams to achieve product delivery goals
- Stay up to date on key trends in asset insights, no-code/low-code approaches for remediation, data transformation, event-driven processing, AI-assisted quality engineering, and related areas
Be Prepared - What You Bring - 2 years minimum experience in software quality assurance and test automation, with a record of increasing ownership and independent delivery
- Ability to perform unit and system-level testing on applications and affected systems
- Experience with API, user-interface, integration, and performance test automation frameworks
- Familiarity with operating systems, software services, and communication fundamentals
- Familiarity with virtualized, cloud-based, and on-premises execution environments
- Awareness of networking concepts and protocols is helpful, but networking experience is not required
- Excellent working knowledge of system architecture, software design patterns, and asynchronous communication concepts
- Experience testing service-oriented systems and containerized or orchestrated deployment environments
- Experience testing distributed services, evaluating sizing guidelines, and analyzing performance metrics, experience with cloud and on-premises deployments and testing across varied execution environments and AI-assisted testing and quality automation experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Be Successful - Your PathFirst 90 Days:
- Be able to understand the end-to-end application flow, automation framework, approach, and execution environment, including cloud and on-premises environments, to provide the necessary production support, deliver business requirements, and bring stability to the application.
Six Months:
- Handle customer issues, resolution and RFE understanding, and UI test planning independently
- Mentor junior team members and collaborate well with Project Managers, Engineering, and Support teams
One Year:
- Be able to identify and address the root cause of defects, proactively addressing issues in the applications with automation or reuse, which in turn would take care of recurring defects and give you additional bandwidth to focus on more development activities
- Register for and complete training and certifications to help you address application needs and support career growth
- Gain comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with test automation tasks and execution, including effort estimates and release planning
