What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop software engineers through coaching, performance management, career development, and talent planning.
  • Drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Partner with Product Management, Architecture, UX, and Engineering teams to define technical roadmaps and deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Oversee application architecture, API design, system integrations, and platform reliability across complex enterprise environments.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices for code quality, security, testing, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Lead Agile delivery teams, ensuring predictable execution, risk management, and continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Champion DevOps and CI/CD practices, enabling automation, deployment efficiency, and accelerated software delivery.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and key stakeholders to align engineering strategy, technology investments, and business priorities while driving innovation through emerging technologies and AI-assisted development tools.


Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Six to eight years of relevant technical experience
- Five or more years of leading a software engineering team

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Proven experience leading and developing geographically distributed software engineering teams through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Strong expertise in software architecture, system design, and building scalable, high-performance enterprise applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend engineering best practices.
  • Deep understanding of application performance, resiliency, observability, security, and integration across complex distributed systems.
  • Experience partnering with Product Management, UX/Design, Architecture, and Engineering teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, and modern deployment strategies (Blue-Green, Canary, Progressive Rollouts).
  • Proven ability to align technical roadmaps and engineering execution with business strategy and organizational objectives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, collaborating effectively with engineers, product owners, scrum masters, vendors, and executive leadership.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, SASS, responsive design, and modern web application development.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools, automation, and productivity platforms to accelerate engineering delivery and quality.


Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
