PeopleTec is currently seeking a Software Engineer w/ AI Experience to support our Huntsville, AL location.

PeopleTec is seeking a Software Engineer to support the development and deployment of AI-enabled training systems interfacing with high-fidelity simulation hardware. This engineer will work directly with subject matter experts, hardware integration teams, and program leadership to build and maintain software across the full stack - from real-time data capture and processing pipelines to desktop and web-based application interfaces.

A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on C#, Python, and systems integration experience, as these are essential for capturing and acting on real-time sensor and performance data, wiring AI and LLM capabilities into training workflows, and keeping latency low across networking, data, and inference layers. The selected candidate will own features end-to-end, bridging the application layer and the underlying hardware and AI systems without requiring a large team around them.

Duties:

  • Design, implement, and maintain application services and background jobs handling real-time data ingestion, processing, and inter-process communication across networked simulation and hardware components
  • Build and maintain desktop and web-based application interfaces supporting operator workflows, data visualization, and in-session feedback delivery
  • Integrate software with external hardware systems, simulation platforms, and embedded components via network and serial interfaces
  • Develop data acquisition and signal processing modules that translate raw sensor and instrument output into actionable application data
  • Implement and maintain microservices and IPC patterns to support modular, low-latency application architectures
  • Integrate local and hosted LLM inference pipelines to support real-time AI-driven feedback and post-session analytical reporting
  • Script and automate deployment, configuration, and dependency management for applications targeting both Windows and Linux environments
  • Instrument application telemetry and logging; monitor and tune for latency regressions, inference throughput, and error rates
  • Collect, analyze, and translate customer and end-user feedback into software features and requirements
  • Contribute to software documentation, test plans, and system validation artifacts as needed
  • Participate in program reviews, sprint demos, and government customer demonstrations as a technical representative
Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with C#, Python, or equivalent
  • Active Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
  • Experience integrating software with external hardware, simulation platforms, or embedded systems via network or serial interfaces
  • Proficiency with real-time data capture, signal processing, or data acquisition concepts
  • Experience with desktop application development for Windows and/or Linux environments
  • Familiarity with networking protocols including TCP/IP, gRPC, and HTTP in application development contexts
  • Experience with microservices architecture and inter-process communication patterns
  • Comfortable with frontend and/or backend web development
  • Familiarity with deploying and configuring applications in Linux environments
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one, as well as to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) with 3+ years of relevant experience, or 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working within DoD IT environments or on programs with ATO or RMF requirements
  • Familiarity with AI/LLM integration, prompt engineering, or local model deployment in a production or near-production context
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for version control, issue tracking, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Background in DevSecOps or secure application development practices
  • Experience with database technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, or similar
  • Prior work supporting aerospace, aviation, or military training simulation systems
  • Experience writing or contributing to software assurance, RMF artifacts, or STIG compliance documentation
