Software Engineer
Job Description
This position will be based at Ashburn, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Own technical direction and architecture across web, desktop, backend, native-integration, and cloud components.
- Design, implement, test, and support production software using TypeScript, Vue 3 Composition API, Quasar, Pinia, Electron, Node.js, and Fastify.
- Maintain Windows desktop applications and native integrations with identity, document-scanning, biometric, and payment hardware.
- Lead the technical delivery of features spanning online enrollment, onsite enrollment, renewals, scheduling, identity documentation, and payments.
- Own or oversee builds, desktop packaging, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, releases, deployments, and environment configuration.
- Support application deployments running on AWS and Kubernetes, including infrastructure managed through Pulumi, and diagnose deployment and environment issues across those platforms.
- Diagnose complex production issues across application, device, network, vendor, and infrastructure boundaries.
- Work with product, operations, security, infrastructure, QA, government-program stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Review technical designs and code, improve engineering standards, and mentor engineers.
- Document architecture, operational procedures, integration behavior, and technical decisions.
- Manage modernization, dependency upgrades, reliability improvements, and technical debt without disrupting enrollment operations.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or equivalent with 2-4 years professional software engineering experience, including technical leadership or ownership of a production system.
- Strong TypeScript and JavaScript experience, including substantial experience with Vue 3 Composition API and Pinia.
- Experience delivering modern web applications and Node.js services.
- Experience with desktop software, Electron, native modules, hardware integrations, or comparable systems-level integrations.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting distributed systems and third-party integrations.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, production releases, and incident investigation.
- Ability to understand complex business workflows and become the authoritative technical SME for a platform.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work across technical and nontechnical teams.
- Ability to work in a security-sensitive, regulated, or government-program environment.
Preferred qualifications
- Vue 3 Composition API, Quasar, Pinia, Fastify, Electron, Nx, Vitest, and Playwright.
- Experience supporting Windows desktop applications and existing Node-API, C/C++, SWIG, or native device SDK integrations
- Ability to use AWS, Pulumi, Kubernetes, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD (Build/Administration experience not required)
- Identity enrollment, document authentication, biometrics, payment processing, or regulated PII workflows.
- Experience leading platform modernization and coordinating multiple production applications and release paths.
Salary: Min: $120,000.00 / Max: 150,000.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Telos offers an excellent compensation package with benefits that include generous paid time off, medical, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, and 401k.
