Software Engineer
The Opportunity:

As a back-end developer, you know that a good site or system needs the right combination of clean code, APIs, analytics, and infrastructure to develop a user-focused solution. We're looking for a back-end developer with the software engineering skills it takes to help identify potential risks, contribute to solution development, and create efficient and effective systems for our clients.

As a back-end developer at Booz Allen, you'll use the latest architectural approaches and open-source frameworks and tools to help deliver solutions. Using your software engineering knowledge, you'll work with and learn from the development team to create custom tools, systems, and sites with consistent performance and scalability.

You Have:

  • Experience with software development in a Linux environment
  • Experience writing source code for new applications or generating and enhancing code for existing applications
  • Experience with troubleshooting and debugging techniques to quickly identify root causes to mitigate issues
  • Experience in developing with an Object-Oriented language, such as Python, C#, Java, or C++
  • Experience using various back-end tools and modules to develop enterprise level solutions
  • Experience with software versioning systems such as Git
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and working within Scrum framework
  • Ability to design and create solutions to complex problems within a collaborative, cross-functional team
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 1+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, or 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in lieu of a degree

  • Experience developing API endpoints with libraries such as FastAPI
  • Experience with package or project dependency managers such as pip and Poetry
  • Experience with data validation libraries such as Pydantic
  • Experience with containerization, including with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience developing software in an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as VS Code or PyCharm
  • Experience with AWS cloud environments
  • Experience deploying with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with writing unit tests and integration tests
  • Experience with AI tools for software development such as Github Copilot, Model Context Protocol, or AI Agents

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,300.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
