Job Description:

The Software Engineer supports Fuel and Tax by developing and maintaining applications and systems that power critical fuel supply and tax operations. They'll design, write, test, document, and implement technically sound, well-integrated solutions that meet Customer requirements and organizational standards across cloud and COTS platforms. They'll build and optimize data pipelines, contribute to application development and cloud integration efforts, and respond to production issues to support reliable, automated operations. The Software Engineer brings strong technical judgment and adaptability to deliver scalable solutions that improve efficiency and support the continued success of Fuel and Tax operations.

Additional Details

  • This DFW-based role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for trainings, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in an approved remote location within the DFW area.

Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge and skills of software development and testing effectively to solve a range of problems
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices
  • Collaborate closely with customers and cross-functional departments to communicate project statuses and proposals
  • Document each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance
  • Determine and assess the needs of the user and then create software to meet the requirements
  • Identify and resolve issues that arise during the design, testing and maintenance processes using problem-solving skills
  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software
  • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming
  • Mentor junior members on the team
  • Improve and expand technical capabilities by continuing their education thru reading, workshops, conferences, and/or communities of practice
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Intermediate knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, concepts, and technologies obtained through formal training and / or work experience
  • Ability to demonstrate consistent knowledge application, skills of software development, and testing to solve a range of problems
  • Intermediate knowledge of at least one required programming language
  • Ability to partner, communicate, and negotiate with various Technology or partner Teams
  • Ability to analyze and manage large, complex, and vague Business or technical problems, articulating the problem or root cause, and translating the analysis into viable solution recommendations
  • Ability to take on multiple assignments, whether administrative or project related, while maintaining a successful level of completion in all responsible work
  • Ability to mentor others to do the same
  • Ability to develop, present and effectively communicate ideas and strategies to a variety of audiences


Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information systems or similar fields of study or equivalent advanced level experience


Experience
  • Required: Intermediate-level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in software engineering
  • Preferred: Experience in OS: Linux
  • Preferred: Experience in programming languages: Python, Java, J2EE,
  • Preferred: Experience in Serverless, ECS, SQS, S3, Dynamo, Document DB, Redshift, and Aurora, Add IAM (roles, policies, least-privilege design), and C#
  • Preferred: Experience in Cloudwatch, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus
  • Preferred: Experience in streaming: Apache Flink, Kafka Streams
  • Preferred: Experience in relational and non-relational databases
  • Preferred: Experience using Gitlab as CI/CD and Terraform
  • Preferred: Experience using AI tools and accelerator tools such as Amazon Q, KIRO, or equivalent.

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Must be able to travel and /or attend Company and non-Company facilities and remote locations such as remote-based offices as necessary


Pay & Benefits

Competitive market salary from $114,200 - $126,900 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
