JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties: Design and define architecture for large-scale co-brand credit card platforms, focusing on service- oriented and event-driven system design and regulatory alignment. Design and oversee cloud architecture and platform capabilities for scalable distributed systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and reliability objectives. Define and oversee observability standards, including logging, monitoring, and alerting strategies to ensure system reliability and operational visibility. Lead and design application resiliency and reliability strategies for distributed systems, including fault- tolerant architecture, failure isolation, and recovery mechanisms to ensure high availability, scalability, and operational excellence. Lead integration efforts between distributed applications and mainframe systems using z/OS-based APIs, ensuring system compatibility and data consistency. Design and develop frontend applications for co-branded credit card audit and reporting ensuring user-friendly interfaces and efficient data visualization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Architecture, and SRE to translate business requirements into scalable system designs and enterprise integration solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Developer, Back-End Developer, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Developer, Back-End Developer, or related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires three (3) years of experience with the following: Implementing REST APIs, Kafka, user interfaces, and service integrations using REST; and Implementing CI/CD pipelines, guardrails, and automated deployments using Terraform and CI/CD tooling. This position requires one (1) year of experience with the following: Designing and operating serverless workflow orchestration using AWS Step Functions with SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, ALB, and NLB; Developing and supporting mainframe integrations and applications using COBOL on z/OS, CICS, IBM MQ, IMS, Apache Flink, and enterprise APIs; Designing, packaging, and operating containerized services using Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon ECS with least-privilege IAM roles and automated CI/CD deployments; and Designing and implementing user interfaces using React. This position requires any amount of experience with the following: Designing, building, and operating microservices-based applications using Java, SpringBoot and Hibernate; Defining, provisioning, and managing cloud infrastructure as code using Terraform with versioned modules, environment workspaces, and resources including networking, compute, databases, IAM, S3, and DynamoDB; Designing and executing resilience, failover, and release validation using AWS Fault Injection Service across ECS, EKS, and serverless workloads; Integrating monitoring alerts and rollback playbooks; Implementing real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures using IMS and DB2 change data capture, MQ, Kafka, and Java services on the mainframe JVM; Automating end-to-end testing and quality validation across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using JMeter, BlazeMeter, Cucumber, Gherkin, Hoverfly, Pact, and CI/CD integration; Implementing observability, monitoring, alerting, and root-cause analysis using metrics, logs, and traces with Dynatrace, Splunk, AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Prometheus, and Grafana; Developing software using AI-assisted development tools including GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude for code suggestions, test scaffolding, design exploration, documentation, and troubleshooting; Configuring DNS, service discovery, and traffic management using Amazon Route 53, load balancing, health checks, logging, and metrics; Implementing resilient application deployments using health checks, autoscaling, rollout strategies, and blue-green deployments; Executing end-to-end microservices delivery using Agile SDLC practices including TDD, CI/CD, iterative sprints, API design, and peer reviews; and Applying machine learning and AI concepts in software development.
