JOB DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Build and deploy applications using innovation and best engineering practices. Participate in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules. Apply core computer science concepts, Object Oriented Programming principles, data structures, algorithms and cloud technologies, with focus on scalability, memory management and performance optimization. Identify or troubleshoot application code-related issues. Participate in code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Assist with design reviews by recommending ways to incorporate requirements into designs and information or data flows. Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline proposed solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or in a related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, IT Consultant, Web Developer, or in a related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires three (3) years of experience with the following: Designing and developing multi-tiered distributed software applications using Object Oriented Design in Java, Python and Scala programming languages; Building and consuming RESTful web services for application integration across enterprise systems, while ensuring robustness and scalability of APIs and backend services; data structures and algorithms for optimized application performance; processing datasets using Apache Spark for data processing; Tuning Spark applications by leveraging techniques including partitioning, caching, high availability and broadcast variables to improve performance and scalability; using SQL and PL/SQL on Oracle RDBMS platform; Writing and tuning SQL queries and designing data models using normalization principles for optimized performance; Developing Business Intelligence reporting using MDX based analytics engines including Essbase and SSAS to enable data-driven decision-making across business functions. This position requires two (2) years of experience with the following: Delivering end to end SDLC processes, writing production-quality code, conducting peer code reviews, performing testing, and ensuring high quality software releases; Utilizing version control systems including Git and SVN and building tools including Maven and Jenkins for continuous integration and deployment; Atlassian JIRA for project management; Implementing observability pipelines using OpenTelemetry (OTel) for distributed tracing, metrics and log collection across microservices and data pipelines; AWS cloud infrastructure and S3, EC2 and lambda AWS services; Developing denormalized NoSQL data models on Cassandra distributed database management system; Developing shell and PERL scripts for automating recurring operational tasks including file transfers, log rotation, scheduling and backup operations across Linux and Unix environments; Preparing technical documentation and maintaining production systems.
