As a Software Engineer on the Azure Database for PostgreSQL team, you contribute to the design, development, testing, and iteration of well-scoped features that improve customer experiences and support product adoption. With guidance from senior engineers, you'll apply data-driven thinking and experimentation to validate ideas, learn from outcomes, and continuously improve service quality. This role offers the opportunity to build strong product engineering skills, gain hands-on experience with cloud database technologies, and collaborate in a cross-functional environment to deliver solutions that directly support customer success and business growth.
Responsibilities- Writes secure, maintainable, and reusable code following best practices and modern design principles.
- Learns to implement features and services with guidance, applying coding standards and patterns to ensure quality and stability.
- Collaborates with team members and stakeholders to clarify requirements, integrates feedback, and iterates on designs and implementations.
- Participates in code reviews to uphold standards and improve reliability while learning from feedback.
- Continuously seeks new knowledge, adapts to emerging technologies, and applies solutions that enhance performance, scalability, and reliability in a cloud environment.
- Takes accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI); participates in on-call rotations to monitor system health and initiate recovery actions when needed.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, GO, or Python,
- OR equivalent experience.
Additional Job Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications - 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, GO, or Python.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), including monitoring performance and telemetry to drive continuous improvements.
- Knowledge of update servicing, security fundamentals, or large-scale system design.
- Exposure to AI-powered development tools or building intelligent features.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,400 - $168,100 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,100 - $183,700 per year.
