The Work
As the Lead Software Engineer, you will:
• Provide technical direction and tasking to a team of multi-disciplinary engineers
• Interface with program and customer representatives on scope, schedule and funding
• Ensure technical integrity of delivered product and ensure alignment to department roadmap and vision
• Be responsible for technical, cost and schedule performance of an effort
• Lead software-engineering activities for simulation and training subsystems across the full product lifecycle, including the software architecture and design, software implementation, and software validation testing.
• Contribute to product line road maps and influence future technology directions.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead small development teams.

This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Who You Are
You are an experienced Software-Engineer with a proven track record on defense-industry projects. You have advanced experience in C++ development and automated testing. You have excellent verbal and written communication; able to present technical information to senior internal and external stakeholders. You have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and capable of delivering innovative technical solutions. You are a technical leader who owns the technical scope, product, and schedule for your product. You build strong customer relationships.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience
• Proven track record designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining complex software systems.
• Advanced Experience using C/C++, Java, and/or Python
• Experience with Linux/Unix Operating Environment
• Advanced experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, static analysis, and configuration management (GitLab, Jenkins, Make/CMake)
• Demonstrated project leadership skills, formal or informal
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to obtain & maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance at the SECRET level - U.S. Citizenship required

Desired skills
• Familiarity using Agile Management Suite and Agile Business Rhythm
• Experience in developing team members through knowledge continuity and mentoring
Experience with combat system architecture and design
• Experience in Model Based Engineering and related tools.
• Experience with system verification and integration testing

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

The base range for this position in New Jersey is $110,500 - $208,344.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. The wage range and benefits summary is a general guideline and is governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
