Position Background:The Digital Analytics, Infrastructure, and Technology Advancement (DAiTA) Group is at the cutting edge of Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (AARDT&E). Our state-of-the-art laboratories are equipped to work seamlessly together, enabling comprehensive testing and evaluation of aircraft and weapons systems across the Department of Defense. What sets the DAiTA Group apart is our exceptional ability to mitigate program risks by crafting intricate battlespace environments where cutting-edge concepts, advanced hardware, and skilled warfighters can dive into the missions of both today and the future. The Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test (IBST) Department is at the heart of this innovative ecosystem. This team is the driving force behind the research, development, management, design, documentation, fabrication, installation, integration, testing, evaluation, operation, and maintenance of the Air Combat Environment Test Facility (ACETEF) and other DAiTA AARDT&E capabilities, laboratories, and facilities. A typical day as aSoftware Engineer-Journeyman may include:- Supports critical Department of Defense (DoD) initiatives
- Designs, develops and maintains secure, scalable software solutions that directly enhance warfighter capabilities and national security objectives
- Operates within strict DoD Impact Level (IL) environments by applying DevSecOps principles to deliver resilient applications for mission-critical systems
- Designs, builds, tests and deploys secure software applications that support DoD Command and Control (C2), ISR or operational mission systems
- Writes robust and maintainable code adhering to DevSecOps best practices, DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls
- Contributes to the architecture of resilient systems deployed in IL4, IL5 or IL6 cloud and on-premise environments
- Designs, develops and maintains integrations between enterprise applications and custom-built tools
- Builds and optimizes APIs, middleware and data pipelines to ensure secure, reliable and scalable communication between systems
- Works cross-functionally with military stakeholders, product managers, systems engineers and defense partners to define and execute mission requirements
- Identifies, debugs and resolves complex software defects by prioritizing security vulnerabilities and operational bottlenecks in high-stakes environments
Must-haves:- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field may qualify
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- The ability to obtain DoD 8140/8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ CE, CySA+ or equivalent) within 6 months of hire
- Experience with one or more mission-critical programming languages (C++, Python, Java, Go, etc.)
- Experience with containerization (Docker and Kubernetes) and deploying to government cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, Platform One, etc.)
- The ability to obtain and maintain Clearance in accordance with 5205.07
- Holds final Secret eligibility-The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills:- Experience with NGTS
- Experience with Battle Monitor SDK

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:The physical environment for this position requires the employee to support various labs at PAX River. The physical environment also requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for part of the day.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. Overnight travel will be required.
The employee is required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs.
