As a Software Engineer III on our backend team, you won't be maintaining a legacy monolith — you'll be designing and operating the distributed services that process high volume and live data from hundreds of thousands of connected devices.

This role is based in Carlsbad, CA, with a hybrid schedule.

What You'll Do

 Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that are reliable, observable, and built to scale Own features end-to-end: from design discussions through deployment and post-launch monitoring Troubleshoot and resolve issues in distributed, production systems
including on-call/incident response rotations Identify performance bottlenecks and drive measurable improvements in latency, throughput, and reliability Shape technical decisions through architecture reviews and code reviews with architects and senior engineers Partner directly with product and business teams to turn requirements into technical designs Help evolve our engineering practices

What You Need (Must Haves)

 4 6 years of professional backend software engineering experience in production environments Strong CS fundamentals: object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis Deep proficiency in Java, including experience with RESTful and event-driven microservices Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed, scalable services in production Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, and with AWS core services (EC2/Lambda, S3, messaging) Hands-on experience with Kubernetes Demonstrated experience debugging and supporting live production systems (monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis) Strong written and verbal communication
