Software Engineer II - Front End/ Back EndThis is a remote position.The
Federal Civilian business unit supports many customers spanning the federal, commercial, and nonprofit space. Our customers include NASA, the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, the Library of Congress, Health & Human Services, and the FDIC. We partner with these agencies to build new capabilities, deliver products, establish data as a strategic asset for informed decision-making, modernize legacy systems, and build the digital service infrastructure necessary to scale their mission impact.
Primary Responsibilities: Software Engineer II - Front End/ Back End serves as an individual contributor within a team; with the support and guidance of leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule and delivery requirements. You will begin to develop an awareness and understanding of the engineering function within the program, as well as interact with stakeholders. Primary expectations for a Software Engineer II - Front End/ Back End include:
- Estimates and completes development tasks including coding, requirements gathering, and analysis with a moderate level of feedback and guidance from their team
- Debugs, optimizes, maintains, and monitors their work in both test and production environments
- Develops tests, monitoring/instrumentation, analytics, and deployment pipeline changes as appropriate for the given task
- Participates in on-call rotations with their team as necessary
- Builds technical and communication skills, gaining context around surrounding areas
- Participates in planning sessions, building an understanding of major architectures and design patterns
- Actively participates in design and asks questions to work toward understanding of technical trade-offs, interactions, and dependencies in the system
- Development of influential skills to help make tactical decisions and support onboarding for new developers
- Exhibits understanding for other roles and practices, including how they are intended to work together
Required Qualifications & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of experience
- Golang
- Angular
- Cloud Experience (ideally AWS)
- SQL experience
- Knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to write clear, concise code using commenting when appropriate
- Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines backed by Jenkins.
Nice-to-have Qualifications & Experience- Health Care Industry and/or CMS experience
- Experience on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex technical topics to management and non-technical audiences
- Prior experience in a client-facing consulting or contracting role
- Works well as a team member in a fast-paced and often time-sensitive environment
- Prior professional services, government, or federal consulting experience
- Experience building digital healthcare technology products and services
- Experience working in the public sector or a highly regulated industry
- Familiarity with (508) accessibility requirements
Security Clearance Requirements- US Citizenship
- US Residency for at least the past 3 years
- Able to meet the requirements to hold a position of Public Trust, including successful completion of a US Government background investigation
